The Oculus is a pretty great experience already, but I have proposed a few improvements. 1. The current lens design gives you an immersive experience that still has black goggle outlines in your peripheral sight-line, my design proposes a lens design coupled with flexible OLED screens that wrap around and give the user a 190º field of view, providing a much more immersed feel. 2. The current oculus can track your fingers well, without the controllers, but interacting with just hands is difficult. My controller design scraps the sensing rings for a strap that allows you to use your hands, but still provides a trigger, joystick and buttons. 3. Handing the Oculus to a friend, or using an Oculus after a 5 year old sweat or drooled on it is not a fun experience. Having quick-swappable face masks that allow each user to have their own personal face mask makes friends and family Oculus nights much more pleasant.

My initial sketches are often traditional mediums and i’ll love them more than the finals because that is where the design was born. My VR kit composes of an Over-ear headset with a full view glass focussing on comfort and allowing airflow. The “gloves” are infrared enabled to record muscle movement and reading motion from separate points of the hand. This all fits into the console case designed to fit any modern interior. Using existing tech the setup is as simple as placing three sensors in the furthest spaces of the environment you are going to working in and pressing play.

This design is an Live Performance Augmented Reality Sensor Array. It is a lightweight exoskeletal design that allows a performer to wear under, or externally as part of a live performance. Current AR sensor arrays require a special body suit and are used on a "set" for AR capture. This design allows a live performance for an anttending audience as well as a remote, virtual performance.

Inquisitor is a handheld AR looking glass for museum goers. With this successor to the audio tour, you’ll be able to engage with pieces from the museum’s collection in a deeper way. The Inquisitor features a familiar archetype that encourages you to take a closer look at interesting pieces during your visit. While holding up the handset, you’ll find “points of interest” that appear throughout the exhibit, pointing out interesting facts. Upon hitting the select button, the LED ring lights up to affirm your selection and audio comes out from a small speaker in the handset. Because you are holding the handset to your face, the audio can be soft and not disturb your neighbors. If the artwork is impactful, you can choose to add it to your “collection”. Upon returning your handset at the kiosk, you’ll be able to send yourself the collection you’ve saved during your visit for further reflection and learning. After returning, the handset can be detached at the handle for easy cleaning and charging. The LED ring indicates charge level. Happy viewing!
