In my previous post, I once again violated my oft-broken, self-imposed rule against embedding political commentary in posts on my silly fast food blog. My excuse for breaching my personal code of conduct is that where I come from, the fried chicken industry is inseparable from politics. After all, it was by successfully leading the investment group in the purchase of Kentucky Fried Chicken from Col. Harland Sanders, and turning the operation into a modern, successful fast food concept, that Lexington-area lawyer turned businessman John Y. Brown Jr. was able to parlay his success and name recognition within the Bluegrass State into a successful run for governor in 1979. Furthermore, it is my belief that the fast food fried chicken industry once played a not insignificant part in determining the outcome of a presidential election.

Today, there are closer to 22 Ponderosa/Bonanza locations left, but my working definition of a broken chain remains unchanged. I have, however, started throwing around a related term with friends and family that I have not yet used here until now:

Hey there yall! Casual player here. Went to play a few games as Rei today and I noticed each round, someone in my team gets their portrait greyed out with a red broken chain link on its side. Just wondering if anyone knows what that is?

Yes, I'm encouraging our Systems Team to open a ticket with Commvault. I don't have access to it but it seems to be designed for one thing: maintain viable backups no matter what. It does it's own thing if you switch recovery models and apparently is prone to launching a full when it "decides" that the log chain is broken.

In a world that often feels chaotic and senseless, it provides a small pocket of comfort in hard times, reminding us that our family chains will inevitably be broken, but there is hope for the faithful that one day we will all be reunited with all of our members of the family.

For the SSL cert on the domain example.com, some tests tell me that the chain is incomplete and since Firefox keeps its own certificate store, it might fail on Mozilla (1, 2, 3). Others tell me it is fine, as does Firefox 36, which tells me that the cert chain is fine.

UPDATE: I tested on Opera, Safari, Chrome and IE on both Windows XP and MacOS X Snow Leopard, they all work fine. It only fails on Firefox < 36 on both OSes. I dont have access to test on Linux, but for this website it is less than 1% of visitors, and most are probably bots. So, this answers the original questions "does this setup bring up warnings in Mozilla Firefox or not" and "Is this SSL certificate chain broken or not?".

PS: As a side note, the Firefox 36 I used to test the cert was a brand new install. There is no chance it didn't complain because it had downloaded an intermediate cert during a previous visit to a site that uses the same chain.

If the chain is sufficient depends on the CA store of the client. It looks like Firefox and Google Chrome have included the certificate for "COMODO RSA Certification Authority" end of 2014. For Internet Explorer it probably depends on the underlying OS. The CA might not yet be included in trust stores used by non-browsers, i.e. crawlers, mobile applications etc.

SSL Labs, widely regarded as the most complete test, now shows Chain issues = Contains anchor, whereas before it used to show Chain issues = None (while the others showed a problem with the chain). This is really a non-issue (1, 2), aside from an extra 1kB the server sends to the client.

When a T-log job runs in CV we will take note of the last Log Sequence number ( LSN ). When the next job runs we check the first LSN to validate we are still backing up t-logs in sequence. If we detect that this chain is broken then we convert the backup to a full as a broken chain results in useless data.

There are a number of reasons the chain can break but the most common is that the DBA team is performing some kind of interactive backups outside of CV resulting in t-logs being cleaned up and breaking the LSN.

I've never replaced a chain like this before so I'm slightly weary of doing damage. It'll be tricky, but should I be able to use the already snapped pin to connect the chain and hopefully it'll help push out the snappable portion?

The part of the connector pin that stays in the chain has a slightly greater diameter than the regular pins so that it has an interference fit in the link plates. This is why if you want to re-break the chain you have to do it at a different link. The first pin would widen the hole in the link plate then the second pin would not have the proper interference fit.

You can often use the chain tool to drive the half-way inserted pin back out from the chain. I do not think it is advisable to attempt pressing it in again. It is certainly possible, I did re-pressed regular roller pins a couple of times when I or someone else accidentally pressed them out too far so that they fell off. It is not the most enjoyable experience, especially as the roadside repair.

You can get another reinforced pin and try again. Alternatively, you could get a so-called master link which replaces one of the half-links on the chain (presumably one at the end of your chain with the broken pin sticking out of it). The master link allows to close the chain using no tools at all, and often to open the chain using special pliers (or just bare hands, with enough swearing).

Several companies manufacture such links for chains of different widths (for cassettes from 8 to 12 speeds). They are generally compatible with chains of all vendors, e.g. you can use a KMC master link on a Shimano or SRAM chain with no issues.

One of the bolts were seized on my cr. My chain finally needed to be adjusted so i tried heating it with a propane torch and got it to turn a little before it broke in half.? So, does anyone know how to get a broken bolt out of their swingarm?

Don't try an Easy out. You'll end up with it broken off in the hole and you'll have to try to remove it before fixing it with one of the above suggestions. If the bolt was siezed bad enough to break off it's too tight for an Easy-Out. And Easy outs are HARD, lotsa fun to drill out.

Berlin is a sculpture on the Tauentzienstrae in Berlin, the capital of Germany. First conceived in 1985 and unveiled by the husband-and-wife sculpting team of Brigitte Matschinsky-Denninghoff and Martin Matschinsky in 1987,[1] the sculpture's principal motif, a "broken chain", was meant to symbolize the severed connections between West and East Berlin due to the construction of the Berlin Wall.[2] After the Wall was dismantled, the sculpture was bought by the city from Matschinsky-Denninghoff to commemorate this period in German history.[1]

Fast-forward to present day, and I had my mower out for the second time of its 7th season of use. The chain had been falling off of the drive wheels fairly often since the prior summer and I really hadn't taken the time to register that it was slackening. There's a spring that's supposed to push down on it to take up slack, but the chain had slackened far too much for that to have any impact. To my dismay, the chain snapped in two when it got caught up on a turn. After sheepishly borrowing my father-in-law's zero-turn mower to finish the job, I set about finding a way to fix my reel mower.

My first go-to resource was Fiskars, but my quick Internet search led me to conclude that they don't sell replacement parts for this mower. Really? A few results later, I found an owner who had replaced the chain and posted some photos about it. "Chain stretch" is a thing, and I was not alone! Knowing that I didn't have any chain or tools, I thought of the next-best option. A local bike shop? Maybe. I emailed John Compton, owner of Main Street Bike Shop here in Trumansburg. I asked how he was, hoping that he was weathering "this nonsense" well (looking at you, pandemic), and asked my question. His response:

I was so grateful for his willingness to tackle the job! Within just a few hours of dropping it off, John emailed me that it was all set to pick up. Phenomenal. I cut the grass yesterday with my renewed mower, with no slack in the chain. It cut like a dream again. Thank you, John! If this happens to you, hit up your local independent bike shop. They might be able to help!

I had chain issues this year; on my 4th mowing the chain slipped off 6 different times and I was beyond frustrated. I didn't really want to spend another $200+ for a new Fiskars so I emailed their warranty dept. explaining that I knew I was not in a warranty period but needed a new chain and possibly a large sprocket because I thought it might be bent. Their response: "Anyone that has a 10 year-old reel mower that has performed faithfully deserves new parts". Seriously! They sent me a new chain, a chain tensioner (something new that mine did not have), and a new large sprocket. I had them 8 days later. Absolutely no cost to me. Fiskars rocks! If you have problems in the future you might want to try their warranty dept. I suspect you will have the same positive experience I had.

The key usage certificate extension, just defines what the certificate is used for. I highly doubt this is the error, i would rather think that error means you are missing a certificate further up in the chain, possibly even a Tusted Root CA certificate. Switch to the certification path tab and upload a screenshot :)

Hi All....Happy to have found this site...and I have a tough one (I think). I have a broken chain guard, which is the easy part...the hard part is the pin it mounts to directly above the front sprocket broke as well. I can't find an expanded view of the CP2 to see how deep I could drill to pin, and re-attach the broken boss. In the pictures, you can see the snapped part....wondering if/how far into this I can drill to pin it back together. Thanks for any help!

Instead of drilling and pinning the broken boss, I would suggest using a metal filled epoxy like JB weld to reattach it instead.

The risk of cracking the case by drilling into it and press fitting a pin is too high in my book.
