The Temple Of Literature, with the age of nearly 1000, is the first national university of Vietnam. Located to the south of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, its establishment was dedicated to Confucius, sages and scholars. In the ancient time, the place is where the most honored candidates did their study sessions and strict exams while nowadays, the place became a historical place where people gather to pray for their study and get the exclusively famous calligraphic artwork written in Hán characters.
Located to the north of Hanoi, away from the hectic city streets, West Lake see itself as the embodiment of Hanoi’s tranquility. Regarded as the Expats’ area, Ho Tay has a numerous population of foreigners living in Hanoi. However, it remains a Vietnamese essence with remaining structures like pagodas, temples and old villages. An ideal Sunday morning in Hanoi is nothing else but riding your scooter to the lake and have a cup of Vietnamese coffee.
Sword Lake, famous for its legendary tale, is the symbol of Hanoi that every citizen is proud of. Located in the very center of the capital, Sword Lake is the gathering place in the weekends for all people regardless of age and origin. Surrounding the lake, the Old Quarters are a special feature that cannot be overlooked. Organized by the French colonization with the shape of the chessboard, the Old Quarters are an artful combination of Western and Eastern architectural culture.
