About the Aligarh Muslim University:

Aligarh Muslim University occupies a unique position amongst universities and institutions of higher learning in India. It was established in 1920 by an Act of the Parliament by the great visionary and social reformer, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. From its very inception, it has kept its door open to the members of all communities and from all corners of the country and the world. The university now has 13 faculties comprising 117 teaching departments, two academies and 21 Centres and Institutes. It has three off-campus Centres in Murshidabad (West Bengal); Malappuram (Kerala) and Kishanganj (Bihar).

About the Centre:

A new chapter of educational enlightenment was added to the culturally enriched soil of Bengal with the establishment of Aligarh Muslim University Murshidabad Centre in 2010. The Centre, accredited by NAAC in ‘A’ grade, is empowered by Section 5(2) (C) of the AMU (Amendment) Act, 1981 and under Section 12(2) of the University Act. [Act XL 1920 and AMU (Amendment) Act, 1972].

The Centre is located in the Murshidabad district of West Bengal which once served as the capital city of the Nawabs of Bengal. Murshidabad being a historical place is replete with numerous historical and tourist spots.

The Centre is currently running three courses namely MBA, BALLB and B.Ed.
