CONCURSOS LOCALES CARIBEÑOS (CLC) ICPC 2019

Motivaciones para realizar concursos locales

Es muy recomendado que una institución realice su concurso local, debido a los siguientes motivos/beneficios:

• Posibilidad de mayor participación y entrenamiento para equipos de la institución que, al inscribirse en el ICPC Registration System, contribuyen oficialmente al número total de participantes de su país y la región del Caribe. Es importante destacar que la participación es determinante en el momento de repartir los cupos extras a la Final Mundial, así como el apoyo monetario de la Fundación ICPC a la Región Caribeña.
• Posibilidad de enviar o clasificar más equipos a niveles superiores de competición. A modo de ejemplo, en el caso de Cuba, la institución que realice Concurso Local podrá clasificar hasta cinco equipos al Concurso Nacional; mientras que la institución que no lo realice, podrá participar directamente en el Concurso Nacional con un equipo. Por otra parte, en aquellos países sin Concurso Nacional, la institución que realice su Concurso Local tendrá mayores posibilidades de optar por los pocos cupos extras para el Concurso Regional que se destinan para esos casos.
• Oportunidad para promocionar más el ICPC en la institución, de modo que una mayor cantidad de concursantes, entrenadores, organizadores, directivos, patrocinadores y público en general se involucren más con la Programación Competitiva. Al mismo tiempo, se tiene la posibilidad de probar los recursos humanos y materiales, así como la dinámica de la institución para futuros eventos (Copas Nacionales de la Liga Cubana de Programación, Subsede de un Concurso Nacional, etc.).

Motivations to organize local contests

It is highly recommended for an institution to organize its local contest, because of the following reasons/benefits:

• Possibility of higher participation and training for teams of the institution, which being registered at the ICPC Registration System, contribute officially to the total number of participants of your country and the Caribbean region. It is important to remark that participation is crucial at the moment of distributing wildcards to the World Final, as well as the monetary support of the ICPC Foundation to the Caribbean Region.
• Possibility of sending or classifying more teams to higher levels of competition. For example, in the case of Cuba, the institution that organize a Local Contest could classify until five teams to the National Contest; while an institution that do not organize one, could participate directly at the National Contest with one team. On the other hand, in those countries without National Contest, the institution that organizes its Local Contest will have more chances of opting by a few wildcards to the Regional Contest destinated for those cases.
• Opportunity of promoting more the ICPC at the institution, so that a higher number of contestants, coaches, organizers, executives, sponsors and people in general involve more with Competitive Programming. At the same time, it is possible to try human and material resources, as well as the dynamic of the institution for future events (National Cups of the Cuban League of Programming, Subsite of a National Contest, etc.).
