IconLaunch is a browser extension that replaces the browser’s new tab page with a customizable dashboard containing website shortcuts, notes, a calendar, clock, and search.
IconLaunch may handle website URLs and page titles when a user chooses to save a webpage as a shortcut.
If the user chooses the optional “Add most visited” feature, IconLaunch requests the browser’s topSites permission and reads the browser’s most frequently visited websites so the user can add them as shortcuts.
IconLaunch also stores information the user creates within the extension, including shortcut titles and website URLs, notes and checklist items, panel display preferences, and other IconLaunch settings.
IconLaunch keeps its working data locally in the browser using extension storage.
IconLaunch does not operate its own server or database for storing user information, and IconLaunch data is not uploaded to the IconLaunch developer.
Users may export their IconLaunch setup as a backup file. This backup is created locally on the user’s device and is not uploaded by IconLaunch.
IconLaunch includes an optional shortcut-sync feature.
When the user turns shortcut sync on, IconLaunch copies the user’s shortcut titles and website URLs to the browser’s built-in extension sync storage. This allows those shortcuts to become available on other compatible devices or browser installations connected to the same browser sync account or sync chain.
IconLaunch v1.1 does not sync notes.
Shortcut sync is optional and must be enabled by the user.
The browser provider operates the sync service. IconLaunch does not operate a separate sync server and does not receive the synced shortcut data.
Different browser products may use separate sync systems. For example, data synchronized through one browser provider may not automatically synchronize with another browser provider.
IconLaunch accesses browsing-related information only when necessary for features initiated by the user.
This includes:
Reading the current page URL and title when the user chooses to add that page to IconLaunch.
Reading the user’s most-visited sites only after the user explicitly chooses “Add most visited” and grants permission.
Storing shortcut titles and URLs in the browser’s built-in sync storage only when the user enables shortcut sync.
IconLaunch does not monitor the user’s general browsing activity.
When a user performs a web search from IconLaunch, the browser navigates to the selected search service. Search queries are handled by that service according to its own privacy policy.
When users open shortcuts, they are taken directly to the destination website, which may have its own privacy practices.
IconLaunch does not sell user data.
IconLaunch does not use or share user data for advertising, marketing, creditworthiness, lending, behavioral profiling, or purposes unrelated to IconLaunch’s functionality.
When shortcut sync is enabled, shortcut titles and website URLs are stored through the browser provider’s built-in sync service solely to provide the shortcut-sync feature.
IconLaunch does not use remotely hosted executable code.
IconLaunch does not include advertising, analytics, tracking services, or behavioral profiling.
Storage: Saves IconLaunch data locally and, only when the user enables shortcut sync, uses the browser’s built-in extension sync storage for shortcut titles and website URLs.
Favicon: Displays website icons for saved shortcuts.
Context menus: Allows users to add the current webpage to IconLaunch from the right-click menu.
Active tab: Allows IconLaunch to read the current webpage title and URL when the user explicitly chooses to add that page.
Top sites: Optional permission used only when the user chooses to add their most-visited websites.
