ICON Lab (Intelligent CONstruction Lab) is a research group leading innovation in smart construction and digital infrastructure management. “ICON” not only stands for Intelligent CONstruction but also symbolizes an icon that paves new pathways.
Our lab leverages advanced technologies such as AI, robotics, 3D point clouds, computer vision, and digital twins to develop automated solutions for data acquisition and processing in construction sites, infrastructure safety monitoring, and sustainable maintenance systems. In addition, we propose resilient and smart infrastructure solutions to address climate change and societal demands, conducting research that bridges theory and practice.
The ultimate goal of ICON Lab is to accelerate the digital transformation of the construction industry and to become an icon of intelligent construction technologies for a safe and sustainable future society.

ICON Lab (Intelligent CONstruction Lab) 은 스마트 건설과 디지털 인프라 관리의 혁신을 선도하는 연구실입니다. “ICON”은 단순히 Intelligent CONstruction의 약어일 뿐만 아니라, 새로운 길을 제시하는 상징(icon) 이라는 의미를 담고 있습니다.
우리 연구실은 AI, 로보틱스, 3D 포인트 클라우드, 컴퓨터 비전, 디지털 트윈과 같은 첨단 기술을 활용하여 건설 현장의 데이터 획득·처리 자동화, 인프라 안전 모니터링, 그리고 지속가능한 유지관리 시스템을 개발합니다. 또한, 기후 변화와 사회적 요구에 대응하기 위해 회복탄력적이고 스마트한 인프라 솔루션을 제안하며, 이론과 실무를 연결하는 연구를 수행합니다.
ICON Lab은 건설 산업의 디지털 전환을 가속화하고, 안전하고 지속가능한 미래 사회를 위한 지능형 건설 기술의 아이콘이 되는 것을 목표로 합니다.
