Introduction to Computational Mathematics
Workshop for MSc/PhD students and young researchers who want to use mathematics in practice
Workshop for MSc/PhD students and young researchers who want to use mathematics in practice
Poznań 2-3 July 2022
The workshop is intended to be a meeting place for advanced MS and PhD students interested in computational methods in mathematics and applications of mathematics to other disciplines. It will be facilitated by experienced scientists working in computational mathematics.
In addition, we will host (in person or remotely) the representatives of industrial leaders who use advanced mathematical tools. Possibilities of collaboration / internships and employment will be discussed.
The school will precede an international conference Applied Topology in Bedlewo 2022.
We will have the following minicourses:
Paweł Dłotko (Dioscuri Centre in Topological Data Analysis), Introduction to TDA
Marek Kaluba (Karlsruher Institute für Technologie), Positivity, symmetry and semi-definite optimization
Piotr Miłoś (Institute of Mathematics, PAS), Introduction to deep reinforcement learning
Sayan Mukherjee (Duke University), Think Statistically, Represent Topologically
Paweł Pilarczyk (Gdansk University of Technology), A topological method for computational analysis of dynamics
Nicholas Scoville (Ursinus College), Discrete Morse theory: Depth and breadth
Find abstracts here.
NB: Most of the minicourses will blend standard lecture with computer-based exercises. You will be required to follow the examples in Python, R or C++ provided by the lecturers.
In addition, we will be joined by the following industrial partners:
Jeffrey Donatelli, Lawrence Berkley National Lab
Laxmi Parida, IBM Research
Han Wang, Wells Fargo
You can join the lectures online: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCE2NBqiuO-BkYEmt36z2lw
The workshop is organized by the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of UAM (Wacław Marzantowicz) and the Dioscuri Centre in TDA (Paweł Dłotko, Michał Lipiński and Justyna Signerska-Rynkowska).
In order to take part in the workshop your application needs to be accepted by the organizers.
