International Conference on Class Groups of Number Fields and Related Topics-2021

(October 21-24, 2021)

A conference celebrating Michel Waldschmidt's 75th birth year honoring his contribution to Mathematics and Education

About

The conference is aimed at bringing the top Number Theorists and young scholars to project their work, and fostering collaborations to further the development of Mathematical Research. Started in 2017 at Harish-Chandra Research Institute (HRI). This year, ICCGNFRT moves to Kerala School of Mathematics(KSoM). It'll be held between between 21st to 24th October.

The areas of particular interest include Ideal class groups of number fields: algebraic, analytic and computational aspects, Relative class numbers of number fields, Annihilators of class groups, Class field theory, Picard groups, Selmer groups, Diophantine equations, Elliptic curves, Iwasawa Theory and Modular forms. The conference will have about 30 invited talks on the current problems and techniques of these subjects delivered by leading experts of the world.

In keeping with the tradition, ICCGNFRT-2021 will also host a handful of Ph.D. scholars and Post doctoral fellows and provide them with opportunities to present their research in front of experts.

Prof. Michel Waldschmidt is a French mathematician who specializes in transcendental number theory. He has made seminal contributions to transcendental number theory and Diophantine approximations. Along with active mathematical research, Michel Waldschmidt is a leading figure in propagating mathematics to the world. He is an avid traveler, an excellent teacher and has traveled to many parts of the world in his mission to propagate mathematics and to make elementary mathematical knowledge available to students from developing countries.

Prof. Waldschmidt has received many awards and accolades. He was awarded the Albert Chatelet prize in 1974, the CNRS Silver Medal in 1978, the Marquet Prize of Academy of Sciences in 1980 and the Special Award of the Hardy-Ramanujan Society in 1986. Most recently he was awarded the Bertrand Russel prize by the American Mathematical Society in 2021. He has been associated with the ICCGNFRT series since its inception and has guided many of us throughout our career. It is our pleasure to dedicate this edition of ICCGNFRT to the outstanding contributions of Prof. Michel Waldschmidt.
