Session Overview: This session will cover fundamental issues in dealing with humanitarian technology (HT) related projects targeting sustainable development (SD) and social return on investment (SROI). By participating this interactive training session you will learn how to design and manage quality HT projects and key factors behind transforming a project into product. Due to interactive nature of the workshop, participants will be encouraged to share their HT projects/ideas (if any) and share brain storming activities. Don’t miss the opportunity to gain valuable experience in HT project design.
Session Outline (60 min):
00-10: Introduction Humanitarian technology Sustainable development Community needs analysis
10-20: Humanitarian technology project design 20-40: Social Return on Investment (SROI) 40-50: P2P (Project to product) development-key factors
50-60: Interactive session to nurture project ideas
Biography of Trainer: Shaikh Fattah received Ph.D. from Concordia University, Canada and was a Postdoc. at Princeton Univ., USA. He is now Professor, Dept. of EEE and Director, INPE, BUET, Bangladesh. He has published 180+ international journal/conf. papers and delivered 50+ keynote/invited talks. Dr. Fattah received numerous awards, such as Concordia University Distinguished Doctoral Dissertation Prize (ENS), Dr. Rashid Gold Medal (in M.Sc.), URSI Canadian Young Scientist Award 2007, BAS-TWAS Young Scientists Prize 2014, 2016 IEEE MGA Achievement Award, 2018 R10 Outstanding Volunteer Award, 2017 IEEE R10 HTA Outstanding Volunteer Award. He was Chair of IEEE Bangladesh Section (2015-16) & General Chair of 5th IEEE R10-HTC 2017. He served various committees of IEEE PES, EAB, SSIT, SIGHT and R10.
