Rapping a Whole New Mind!
I collaborated with my partners to create and perform a rap that captures the essence of Daniel Pink’s A Whole New Mind, focusing on the six senses: Design, Story, Symphony, Empathy, Play, and Meaning. We started by reviewing and highlighting key concepts from each sense, such as aesthetics and creativity for Design, narrative and emotional impact for Story, and big picture thinking for Symphony. Then, we contacted each other to discuss collaboration tools and strategies, using our Rap Group Discussion/Collaborate space to brainstorm and plan. We developed our rap by incorporating rhymes and rhythmic speech, ensuring it flowed smoothly and authentically. We met in person to practice, incorporating an mp3 sample for the beat, and prepared to transform into our rap characters with props and costumes. Finally, we performed the rap in class, making sure we had everything needed for an engaging and authentic performance.
