09 - 13 december 2025, Valparaíso, Chile
In August of 2013, as satellite of the Mathematical Congress of the Americas edition 2013, the First Brazil-Mexico Meeting on Singularities took place in Querétaro, Mexico. This congress led an international congress on singularities between the two countries being held every two years. In 2015 the Second Brazil-Mexico Meeting on Singularities took place in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, with the Third Brazil-Mexico Meeting on Singularities following in 2017 at the Instituto de Matematicas, UNAM, Unidad Cuernavaca, in Cuernavaca, Mexico, as a satellite conference of the 3rd PRIMA Congress 2017. For the Fourth Brazil-Chile-Mexico Meeting on Singularities (BCM-Singularities) in 2019 Chile was invited to participate as a permanent member, and the conference took place in the "Instituto de Matemática y Física" at the University of Talca, in Talca, Chile. The Fifth Brazil-Chile-Mexico Meeting on Singularities was held on Federal University of Espirito Santo, in Vitoria, Brazil, in 2022. The Sixth Brazil-Chile-Mexico Meetin on Singularites took place at Casa Matemática Oaxaca, in Oaxaca, Mexico, in 2023.
The Iberoamerican Congress on Singularities builds on the tradition of the Brazil-Chile-Mexico Meeting on Singularities, expanding its reach to include the Spanish and other Latin American singularities communities. The inaugural edition of the Iberoamerican Congress on Singularities will take place at the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María in Valparaíso, Chile—a historically significant institution in the development of complex and algebraic geometry in the country. The program will feature two plenary talks and specialized talks by both senior and early-career researchers. The event will cover analytical, topological, and algebraic aspects of singularities algebraic and analytic varieties.
