Nomination and Election

In accordance with the bylaws of the Iranian American Society of Utah all corporate powers and affairs of this organization are exercised by or under the authority of the Board of Directors. Upon election, each director will serve a three-year term. Every director will be in charge of one of the following committees/areas:

  1. Cultural Committee

  2. Charity Committee

  3. Civil Rights Committee

  4. Treasury

  5. Public Relations

  6. Secretary

Elected directors will have the following responsibilities:

Cultural Committee: The Cultural Committee Director manages and oversees all cultural and educational activities. These activities may include but not limited to Nowruz, Yalda, Mehregan, Tirgan and any other activity encompassing and promoting the Iranian culture.

Charity Committee: The Charity Committee Director manages and oversees all charity activities of the Society. Charity activities of the Society will be limited to lawfully addressing, coordinating and providing aid proportional to resources available to the Society.

Civil Rights Committee: The Civil Right Committee Director manages and oversees all civil right related activities of the Society. These activities will oppose any discrimination, unfair treatment, and lack of social justice and equality within the capacity of the Society.

Treasury: The Treasurer, as an elected board member shall keep and maintain, or cause to be kept and maintained, adequate and correct accounts of the properties and business transactions of the Society, including account of its assets, liabilities, receipts, disbursements, gains, losses, and capitals.

Public Relations: The Public Relations Officer, as an elected board member, will be in charge of inquiries from the public, press releases, publicity strategies and campaigns. In doing so, he/she will be creating awareness in the community of Society's activities, work, and values.

Secretary: The Secretary, as an elected board member shall keep, or cause to be kept, a book of minutes, gives notice of all the meetings of the Board of Directors and will be responsible for the internal affairs of the Society.

The Iranian American Society of Utah (IASOU) invites you to nominate directors for the following positions:

  1. Treasurer

An IASOU member can nominate only one individual. Self-nominations are accepted.

Only IASOU members are eligible to nominate and vote. Nominees who are not members of IASOU will be asked to become a member. The nominators will remain anonymous.

Deadline for receiving the nominations is by 11:59 PM of February 5, 2021.

Voting process will start at 11:59 PM on February 6, 2021.

Nominees will introduce themselves in a Zoom town-hall meeting on February 7, 2021.

Voting will end at 11:59 PM on February 13, 2021.

Elected director will be announced by February 15, 2021.

The elected director will join the current Board of Directors of IASOU and will serve starting February 16, 2020.
