Milini Wright was born in Athens, Greece and lived most of her childhood in Macon and Warner Robins, Georgia. Her parents were both in the military, Air Force branch. She graduated from Westside High in Macon, Georgia and went to Valdosta State University (VSU) to do her prerequisite college classes. She met her husband, Randolph Wright at VSU in 2001 and they were married in November 2003. They moved to San Antonio, Texas in 2006 which is where they currently reside. They have an almost 16-year old mini-rat terrier named Missie Pooh. Milini graduated from Baptist School of Health Professions in December 2007 with her LVN Nursing Diploma. She worked as an LVN for almost eight years before going back to school. She graduated from Galen College of Nursing in 2017 with her associate degree in nursing (RN). She went back to school the next year for her bachelor’s degree in nursing and graduated from Aspen University in the summer of 2019. Milini immediately went back to school for her master’s degree in nursing (MSN) administration and management. She will be graduating with her MSN degree in the summer of 2021. She plans to go back for her doctorate degree in nursing practice (DNP) after a much-needed break.
Milini started her career as a nurse working in long-term care and rehab, then she moved into home health, providing care to patients in their own homes. She later found her calling in the behavioral or mental health field of nursing. First, she worked with patients addicted to drugs and alcohol. Then, she worked on a crisis unit taking care of adult patients with behavioral issues, depression, and suicidal thoughts. She later worked as a nurse case manager for clients with IDD or intellectual developmental disabilities. She really enjoyed listening to the progress clients made in their daily lives due to the program and seeing their smiling faces. She also completed a travel nursing assignment at a state psychiatric hospital in North Carolina where she worked on the children and adolescent unit. Working with these children has inspired her to adopt children of her own in the future, preferably siblings. She currently works as the South Regional Director of Nursing for an IDD company named ResCare. She plans to open her own healthcare business after graduation and a Nursing School after that, so she can give back to her community.
