Hyungseok Kim is an Assistant Professor at Chungnam National University, where he leads the SWSEC Lab. His research interests lie at the intersection of systems and software security, with a particular focus on binary analysis, automated vulnerability detection, and software hardening. His work has been published in top-tier venues such as USENIX Security, FSE, ISSTA, and ASPLOS. Notably, his recent work received the Distinguished Paper Award at ISSTA 2024. He received his Ph.D. degree in the Graduate School of Information Security (GSIS) from KAIST in 2024.
Prior to joining Chungnam National University, he worked at the National Security Research Institute (NSR), where he was responsible for analyzing network systems. He also has deep expertise in binary rewriting and system software, including the Linux kernel and compilers.
