If you want factory-perfect compatibility for a modern Hyundai on a family road trip, choose HYUNDAI Genuine Fluid 00232-19020; if you need a multi-vehicle solution that actively stops leaks in high-mileage cars, choose BlueDevil Products Power Steering Fluid.
• HYUNDAI Genuine Fluid 00232-19020: Its biggest strength is being a genuine OEM part specifically engineered with advanced additives to reduce wear in your specific vehicle; the trade-off is it only works for Hyundai and lacks leak-stopping capabilities. This pick is for owners of newer or well-maintained Hyundai vehicles who demand exact factory specifications.
• BlueDevil Products Power Steering Fluid: Its biggest strength is its ability to stop existing leaks and smooth steering in high-mileage vehicles across many brands; the trade-off is it is a universal formula rather than a precision-engineered fluid for a single manufacturer. This pick is for older cars with worn seals or drivers dealing with minor fluid loss.
This product is designed with a singular focus: to protect the internal components of a Hyundai power steering system exactly as the engineers intended. It relies on a specially formulated blend using only the finest lubricating oils combined with a technologically advanced additive system. This isn't a generic mixture; it is a precise chemical recipe meant to interact perfectly with the specific seals, pumps, and racks found inside Hyundai models.
The primary function here is wear reduction. By maintaining the correct viscosity and friction properties, this fluid minimizes the stress on moving parts over time. For a driver planning a long journey, like a cross-country family road trip, this reliability is paramount. You are not looking for a miracle fix for a broken seal; you are looking for the baseline performance that ensures the steering system operates silently and efficiently without any unexpected hiccups. The 12-ounce bottle size suggests it is intended for top-offs or small maintenance tasks where precision matters more than volume.
You should buy this if you own a Hyundai and want to ensure every drop of fluid in your system matches the original design parameters. It is ideal for routine maintenance where no leaks exist, and you simply need to refresh the fluid to keep the system running smoothly. However, you should skip this product if your vehicle has high mileage with known seal issues or if you are driving a non-Hyundai brand. Using an OEM-specific fluid in a car it wasn't designed for could lead to incompatibility issues, and it offers no protection against active leaks or slippage.

BlueDevil Products takes a different approach by targeting the symptoms of aging power steering systems. This fluid is explicitly marketed as a "Stop Leak" solution designed for high-mileage vehicles. The formulation aims to swell and condition old, hardened seals to stop minor leaks before they become major failures. Beyond just stopping leaks, the data indicates it helps prevent wear and corrosion while smoothing out steering operation. If your steering wheel feels stiff, makes noise, or requires extra effort to turn, this fluid is engineered to ease that operation back to a smoother state.
The versatility of this product is its main selling point. It uses a multi-vehicle formula, meaning it is not tied to a single manufacturer but is instead crafted to work broadly across various makes and models. This makes it a practical choice for households with multiple cars of different ages or brands. The larger 1-quart container provides significantly more volume than the 12-ounce OEM bottle, which is useful for full flushes or topping off systems that have lost a noticeable amount of fluid due to age-related seepage.
This product fits best for owners of older vehicles where seals have naturally hardened over thousands of miles. If you notice your car leaking fluid under the hood or hear groaning sounds when turning the wheel at low speeds, BlueDevil offers a targeted remedy. It is also a solid choice for anyone who wants to extend the longevity of their current vehicle without immediately resorting to expensive mechanical repairs. However, if you have a newer Hyundai with a pristine steering system, this universal formula might be overkill compared to the precision of the factory fluid. It is not a substitute for fixing major mechanical failures, but rather a maintenance aid for aging components.
• Best for Factory Precision → HYUNDAI Genuine Fluid 00232-19020: If your priority is matching the exact chemical composition specified by the vehicle manufacturer, the OEM fluid is the only logical choice.
• Best for High-Mileage Repair → BlueDevil Products Power Steering Fluid: If your car has significant mileage and is showing signs of seal degradation, the stop-leak properties of BlueDevil are superior.
• Best for Brand Specificity → HYUNDAI Genuine Fluid 00232-19020: Only use this for Hyundai vehicles; it is not a universal fit for other manufacturers.
• Best for Multi-Vehicle Owners → BlueDevil Products Power Steering Fluid: One bottle can service a fleet of different cars, making it more versatile for mixed households.
• Best for Preventive Maintenance → HYUNDAI Genuine Fluid 00232-19020: Use this to maintain a healthy system and prevent future wear in a functioning vehicle.
• Best for Active Leak Management → BlueDevil Products Power Steering Fluid: Only this product claims to stop leaks and prevent slippage caused by worn seals.
• Best for Family Road Trip Reliability (Newer Car) → HYUNDAI Genuine Fluid 00232-19020: For a family trip in a maintained Hyundai, the advanced additive system ensures the pump won't fail under load.
• Best for Family Road Trip Reliability (Older Car) → BlueDevil Products Power Steering Fluid: For an older vehicle on a long trip, the ability to stop a developing leak prevents a roadside breakdown.
After weighing the technical specifications and real-world application scenarios, I recommend choosing HYUNDAI Genuine Fluid 00232-19020 if you drive a Hyundai that is currently running well. The advantage of having a fluid that is chemically identical to what came from the factory cannot be overstated when planning a long family road trip. You want zero variables between your vehicle's engineering and the fluids you put inside it. However, if your car is older, has high mileage, or is already showing signs of fluid loss, I would switch my recommendation to BlueDevil Products Power Steering Fluid. In that case, the stop-leak capability and broader compatibility offer a necessary safety net that the OEM fluid does not provide. Ultimately, match the fluid to the health of your vehicle, not just the brand badge.
While both are power steering fluids, mixing different formulations is generally discouraged. It is safer to drain the system and fill it entirely with the product that matches your specific needs and vehicle age.
No, the HYUNDAI Genuine Fluid 00232-19020 is specifically designed for Hyundai vehicles. Using it in other brands may not provide the correct lubrication or additive balance required for those engines.
The BlueDevil product comes in a 1-quart container, whereas the Hyundai fluid is packaged in a 12-ounce unit. This means the BlueDevil bottle holds significantly more fluid, suitable for full flushes or larger top-offs.
No, this fluid is designed to stop minor leaks and smooth operation in high-mileage vehicles. It cannot repair a mechanically failed pump or replace a severely damaged rack.
