Initial Rx

The target BG can be between 140 and 180 mg/dl. (140 being fasting value, 180 being postprandial value)

1. Metformin needs to be stopped as the patient has an infection. (1)

2. This patient is already receiving insulin at home and his RBS is 310 mg/dl. Hence the same dose can be given as basal bolus regimen along with correctional insulin.
