Driver updates for Windows, along with many devices, such as network adapters, monitors, printers, and video cards, are automatically downloaded and installed through Windows Update. You probably already have the most recent drivers, but if you'd like to manually update or reinstall a driver, here's how:

The AMD/NVIDIA video drivers can normally be uninstalled from the Windows Control panel, this driver uninstaller program was designed to be used in cases where the standard driver uninstall fails, or anyway when you need to thoroughly delete NVIDIA and ATI video card drivers. The current effect after you use this driver removal tool will be similar as if its the first time you install a new driver just like a fresh, clean install of Windows. As with any tool of this kind, we recommend creating a new system restore point before using it, so that you can revert your system at any time if you run into problems.

If you have a problem installing an older driver or newer one, give it a try as there are some reports that it fix those problems. DDU is an application that is programmed by Ghislain Harvey aka Wagnard in our forums, Guru3D.com is the official download partner for this handy application.

Here you can download drivers for DisplayLink USB graphics chipsets incorporated in your dock, adapter or monitor. We recommend to update to the latest driver to address any potential security issue, fix bugs, improve performance and add new features.

I got super curious to see whether Rust could do user mode drivers on Windows. It can do splendidly (after initial boilerplate)! (Edit: Looks like MS is already actively working on bringing the WDK to Rust)

Part of this was spurred on by my frustration at a lack of drivers for this kind of thing, and the ones that do exist couldn't even do 120hz ? Mine has no such restriction. 120hz works great. It supports multiple monitors, resolutions, and refresh rates per monitor, and has an accompanying app to edit them all at runtime. Only restriction at the moment is 1 display, and it's locked to 1080p@120hz (I'll lift that restriction in time and have multiple resolutions/refresh rates, and possibly even multiple monitors, it's not a code limitation)

In electronics/computer hardware, a display driver is usually a semiconductor integrated circuit (but may alternatively comprise a state machine made of discrete logic and other components) which provides an interface function between a microprocessor, microcontroller, ASIC or general-purpose peripheral interface and a particular type of display device, e.g. LCD, LED, OLED, ePaper, CRT, Vacuum fluorescent or Nixie.

The display driver will typically accept commands and data using an industry-standard general-purpose serial or parallel interface, such as TTL, CMOS, RS-232, SPI, I2C, etc. and generate signals with suitable voltage, current, timing and demultiplexing to make the display show the desired text or image.

The use of integrated circuit technology to drive a display driver chip dates back to the late 1960s. In 1969, Hewlett-Packard introduced the HP Model 5082-7000 Numeric Indicator, an early LED display and the first LED device to use integrated circuit technology. Its development was led by Howard C. Borden and Gerald P. Pighini at HP Associates and HP Labs, who had engaged in research and development (R&D) on practical LEDs between 1962 and 1968.[1] It was the first intelligent LED display, making it a revolution in digital display technology, replacing the Nixie tube and becoming the basis for later LED displays.[2]

In the early 21st century, display driver chips are widely used for mobile displays in smartphones and other smart devices as well as larger flat-panel displays. Between 2003 and 2005, LCD display driver chips sold 9,821.2 million units worldwide.[3]

I need to write display driver on MacOS High Sierra for external display. I found IOKit sample for device driver and basic document about IOVideoDevice. But I cannot find detail document or sample code with IOVideoDevice.

The spacedesk Video Wall Software Engine enables convenient and inexpensive setup of display walls using a single PC running on regular Windows 11. Our product supports multicast of Windows desktop screen to up to an unlimited number of remote display devices.

The screens can be (i) set as individual displays for standard digital signage purposes, (ii) grouped to clone the same content, (iii) set up on a grid as standard video walls or (iv) set up as Creative video walls where screens of any size and scale are placed at any angle.

I have a Lenovo x200 and recently its screen didn't work, so I took it to a repair lab. The guy told me they replaced the screen inverter. I powered up the laptop and the ThinkPad logo was shown, so I was happy. When I got home the computer would boot up, then instead of the logon screen, I got a black screen. Went to safe mode, disabled the display adapters, reset the computer, and I got a clean boot. Then I tried to reinstall the drivers, and it just led to the same condition. My video card is (from device manager): Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family.

Maybe it is stuck in projection only display mode. Most laptops have a button combination to cycle through these options and one is to only use external monitor. According to the user manual it is the Fn+f7 key. Try cycling that with the display driver enabled and the computer turned on.

Have you tried VGA mode? It sounds like its possible that the driver you are using is trying to default the screen to a resolution that is not supported by the monitor itself. Do you have an additional external display that you can hook it up to, and see if it broadcasts to that properly?

EDIT: Irony in its finest form. I currently have a Dell Latitude E6410 with the EXACT same issue. Works great on external display with drivers installed. Works great on internal LCD with NO drivers installed. Install drivers? No longer works on internal. Dell is shipping me a motherboard, not sure why, but they seem to think the video card is bad. I will update once it gets here and I replace it. The E6410 is using the Intel HD graphics chip.

Assuming no esoteric Windows issues are present, that should fix the problem. My guess is that whomever repaired your laptop somehow removed the display file (that would explain why the external monitor but not the laptop screen worked) and forgot to reinstall it.

I believe this is a conflict issue with the Intel HD drivers. I had a similar issue, my thinkpad would hang on a black screen for over two minutes as Windows 7 booted. However, if I booted in Safe Mode of with the Intel drivers disable, I'd have the regular a fast boot time.

Does this laptop have a special "lenovo" utility? This could be something like a hotkey driver or a system device manager. Since the monitor works without the driver I believe it is a configuration somewhere that is preventing the display from showing properly. If the Intel driver utility is installed, you can open up the display manager from the system tray and change the configuration of the displays.

Our display drivers have been adopted in a wide range of applications, from large screen TVs, PC monitors, Note PC, Tablet, instrument displays in automotive systems, and industrial equipment.

The indirect display driver (IDD) model provides a simple user-mode driver model to support monitors that aren't connected to traditional GPU display outputs. For example, a dongle connected to a PC via USB that has a regular (VGA, DVI, HDMI, DP, etc.) monitor connected to it requires an IDD.

An IDD is the third party-provided UMDF driver for the device. An IDD is developed using the functionality exposed by the IddCx (Indirect Display Driver Class eXtension) to interface with the windows graphics subsystems in the following ways:

The IDD is a user-mode only model with no support for kernel-mode components. As such, the driver is able to use any DirectX APIs in order to process the desktop image. In fact, the IddCx provides the desktop image to encode in a DirectX surface.

At this point when when runing the VM it indicates that it is using microsoft display driver. Important to note that the T4 is currently visible to the VM as a device and the driver installed succesfully, confirming that the card is present considering that it does a compatibility check. MSIAfterburner sees the card but its graphs stay bottomed out no matter what GPU intensive application is running (or trying to run as well as they can using the basic driver anyhow).

At this point I dont know what else to try. If im not mistaken there shouldnt be any need to install drivers on the hypervisor itself as this is on passthrough mode and not vGPU. Any secrets to get GPU passthrough to work?

The Citrix Hypervisor has had no gpu drivers installed on it. I remember a few years back when using GRID vGPUs there was a need to install nvidia drivers on xenserver but I havent found documentation when the usage is GPU Passthrough. Is the assumption that GPU passthrough does not require drivers on the host hypervisor for it to work on the guest VM correct?

Do you have the licensing from NVIDIA installed on a license server and the service registered with your VM(s)? Are the drivers properly installed on your host? What do you get if you run nvidia-smi from the CLI on your XenServer/Citrix Hypervisor host? You won't be able to run it without properly installed and configured licensing.

For remote visualization environments the vGPU driver is required even in Pass-through mode and as such it requires a license. The only difference is that you only need to install the vGPU guest driver on the VM but you don't need to install anything on the hypervisor host

We have recently installed the latest version of the Horizon agent and VM Tools on all of our persistent vdi`s. With a small part of our users we now see a degradation in performance with all kinds of different monitor setups. For example on a full hd or qhd screen a lower resolution is presented. When display scaling is switched off it works , but that is not really a good solution. Or the performance on a 4k monitor is significantly degraded. The vast majority of our users (+/- 5000) do not report any complaints. These seem to be very specific cases. ff782bc1db
