If you want a dedicated, high-speed charging solution specifically for your JBL speakers and wireless earbuds to keep them running during long trips, choose Hyacinyh USB Charger Charging; if you need a versatile dongle that lets you listen to music through standard headphones while simultaneously fast-charging your smartphone or tablet, choose AreMe 90.
• Hyacinyh USB Charger Charging: Its biggest strength is delivering up to 20W of rapid power to a massive array of JBL portable speakers and buds, ensuring they are ready in minutes. The trade-off is that it is strictly a charger with no audio output capabilities, making it useless for listening while plugged in. This pick is for the audiophile traveler who prioritizes speaker battery life above all else.
• AreMe 90: Its standout feature is the clever 90-degree right-angle design that combines a 3.5mm headphone jack with a 60W Power Delivery port, allowing simultaneous audio and charging. The trade-off is that it requires a device with a USB-C port and cannot charge devices without that specific connector. This pick is for the modern mobile user who needs to bridge old headphones with new phones.
The Hyacinyh USB Charger Charging cable is engineered with a singular, focused purpose: to breathe life back into portable JBL audio gear. If you own a JBL Charge 4, Flip 5, or even the newer Pulse series, this cord is built to handle the job efficiently. This isn't just about plugging something in; it is about significantly reducing the downtime you face when your favorite speaker dies mid-flight or during a weekend camping trip. The ability to deliver 3 amps of current means you can go from empty to operational much faster than with a standard, slower adapter.
Design-wise, this product leans heavily on portability and safety. Weighing only 0.05 kg, it is virtually weightless in your bag, yet it maintains a robust build quality with an enclosure made of Polyvinyl Chloride. The cable itself is a flat, flexible design that measures 3.9 feet (1.2 meters) in length, providing enough reach to plug into a seat-back pocket or overhead console without tangling. Crucially, it includes comprehensive safety protections against over-current, over-voltage, short-circuits, and overheating. It has been tested to comply with UL 62368-1 Safety Standards, which gives peace of mind when leaving a device connected overnight or unattended in a public space.
Who should buy this? You are the person who owns multiple JBL devices—perhaps a Flip 7 for the beach and a Tune Buds 2 for the commute—and you hate carrying three different bricks and cords. This single cable works seamlessly with the entire JBL ecosystem, including the Clip, GO, Vibe Beam, and Endurance Peak lines. However, you should skip this product if your primary goal is to listen to music while charging. Since this unit lacks any audio output or DAC chip, it will not help you connect wired headphones to a phone. It is a pure utility tool for recharging, nothing more.

The AreMe 90 takes a completely different approach by solving the problem of connectivity rather than just power delivery. This adapter is designed for users who have transitioned to USB-C smartphones but still rely on traditional 3.5mm wired headphones. Whether you are using older studio monitors, budget earbuds with a standard jack, or high-fidelity audiophile cables, this dongle bridges the gap. The standout feature here is the 90-degree right-angle configuration. By angling the connector, it prevents the bulk of the adapter from blocking your hand or getting in the way when you are holding a phone to play games, watch videos, or make calls. This ergonomic detail makes a significant difference in daily usability compared to straight adapters that stick out awkwardly.
Performance-wise, the AreMe 90 does not skimp on power. It supports Power Delivery (PD) up to 60W, meaning it can handle high-wattage charging requirements for laptops, tablets, and flagships alike. Simultaneously, it utilizes a highly integrated DAC decoding chip to ensure Hi-Fi sound quality. This chip handles the conversion from digital to analog signals, promising stable, noise-free audio and clearer voice calls. The physical construction features a durable aluminum shell wrapped in high-density nylon, suggesting a product built to withstand the rigors of being tossed in a backpack daily. It requires no drivers or software installation, offering a true plug-and-play experience across a wide range of Android devices, iPads, and even newer iPhone models.
This product is ideal for the frequent flyer or commuter who refuses to upgrade their existing collection of wired headphones. If you are looking for rechargeable over ear headphones for airplane travel that don't require expensive Bluetooth adapters, this allows you to use your current gear directly. It is also perfect for anyone needing to stay productive on a plane; you can charge your laptop via the USB-C PD port while monitoring audio feeds through your preferred headphones. Conversely, you should avoid this if you do not have a USB-C host device or if you prefer wireless freedom entirely. It is a hardware bridge, not a wireless replacement, and it adds a physical connection point that some minimalists might find unnecessary.
• Best for JBL Speaker Owners: If your inventory consists almost exclusively of JBL Charge, Flip, Pulse, or Vibe devices, the Hyacinyh charger is the superior choice because it is tailored specifically for those ports and offers optimized 20W fast charging.
• Best for Multi-Device Audio: If you need to connect legacy 3.5mm headphones to a modern smartphone or tablet while keeping that device powered up, the AreMe 90 is the only option that provides both audio output and charging in one compact unit.
• Best for Battery Life During Long Flights: For travelers seeking to maximize sleep headphones for airplane usage with wired connections, the AreMe 90 allows you to drain your phone less by enabling direct audio pass-through, whereas the Hyacinyh simply keeps your external speaker charged.
• Best Value for Versatility: The AreMe 90 offers more functional versatility with its dual-port capability (audio + power), making it useful for a wider variety of gadgets beyond just speakers.
• Best for Safety and Specific Brand Support: The Hyacinyh stands out with its explicit mention of UL 62368-1 compliance, offering a specialized safety assurance for the specific voltage and amperage needs of JBL electronics.
• Best for Ergonomics: The 90-degree angle of the AreMe 90 is a distinct advantage for gaming or media consumption where a straight cable would be obstructive, a feature the Hyacinyh flat cable does not replicate in the same way.
• Best for Portability: Both are small, but the Hyacinyh is lighter at 0.05 kg, making it easier to slip into a pocket as a backup charger for a specific device.
• Best for High-Power Charging: If you ever need to charge a larger device like a tablet or ultrabook, the AreMe 90's 60W Power Delivery capability far exceeds the 20W limit of the Hyacinyh.
In my opinion, the AreMe 90 is the more compelling purchase for the average traveler today. While the Hyacinyh is a fantastic, specialized tool for JBL owners, the AreMe 90 solves a broader problem that affects almost everyone with a modern smartphone. The ability to use standard wired headphones while simultaneously recharging a device at 60W is a game-changer for long-haul flights, especially when looking for best bluetooth headset for airplane alternatives that don't rely on battery-dependent Bluetooth. I would personally buy the AreMe 90 because it extends the life of my existing audio gear and ensures my phone stays powered without sacrificing comfort due to its angled design.
Absolutely. With support for up to 60W Power Delivery, it can handle charging for most smartphones, tablets, and many lightweight laptops that accept USB-C power input.
No, the product information states it is plug-and-play with no additional drivers or software required, working immediately upon connection.
For sleep headphones for airplane, the AreMe 90 allows you to use your preferred wired sleep headphones, which often provide better passive noise isolation than many budget Bluetooth options.
