When a discussion about sustainability and the cost of living, moved on to the financial and social expectations of ‘looking your best’ for Prom and the future of the ‘meticulously stored but never worn again’ outfit, ignited passionate debate. A group of enterprising Sixth Form students decided to address the issue and create an alternative to an outright ‘one-off purchase’ and Dress2Impress was born!
Dress2Impress offers those students who are identified by their pastoral teams, the opportunity to loan an outfit for free. Students and Parents/Carers who wish to access the free service should contact their Heads of Year, who will pass their details across to the Dress2Impress team.
As avid supporters of sustainable fashion, we also offer an ‘Eco Wardrobe’. All students in Year's 11 and 13 will be offered the opportunity to view the collection at our VIP ‘Prom Fayre’ and can hire an outfit in an eco-friendly way for a minimal cost.
Huntington is a school that embraces a diverse variety of cultures, and we have a selection of formal attire that aims to cater for all students.
There are lots of ways that you can support Dress2Impress:
We accept donations of all styles of dresses (longer seem more popular) and suits to help our students.
We also accept accessories, although we ask that shoes are unworn, please wherever possible.
Monetary donations through our GoFundMe page, however small, help with the everyday running costs of Dress2Impress, ensuring our outfits can keep making each young person’s prom as memorable as the last.
We’re proud to partner with local businesses and charities who have agreed to support our Prom Fayre to enable us to offer a wider range of Prom accessories and services. If you’re a local business and would like to discuss how you could get involved, please don’t hesitate to contact us, we’d love to hear from you, contact us at: dress2impress@huntington-ed.org.uk
On average it costs £250 for men and £500 for women to go to prom however our research showed some people paid up to £1000
According to our research 13.7% of people said they were likely to rewear their prom dress meaning 86.3% of dresses end up sitting unloved in wardrobes or end up in landfills further polluting our planet.
Dress2Impress is helping to reduce prom costs by offering free yet stylish rentals with just a small deposit, ensuring students can look great without overspending.
Dress2Impress also supports environmental sustainability by promoting dress rentals and second-hand options, reducing waste and the demand for fast fashion, while encouraging students to make eco-friendly choices for prom.
