Huira Kim is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Social Welfare at Sungkyunkwan University. Her research examines social welfare organizations and workforce management in the delivery of social services, with particular attention to labor conditions and professional development in social work. She is also interested in labor precarity in young people’s transition to adulthood and in social policies aimed at advancing the human rights of marginalized populations, including persons with disabilities and LGBTQ+ communities.
She received her master's degree from the Graduate School of Social Welfare at Sungkyunkwan University in 2024, where her master’s thesis, “A Study on the Experiences of Young Social Workers in Labor Union Activities,” explored the meanings and experiences of labor union participation among young social workers.
In addition to her academic work, she has been actively engaged in public and professional service. She has served as a member of the Social and Cultural Affairs Subcommittee of the 3rd Goyang Youth Policy Council and as a youth member of Youth Madang, the Youth Forum of the Presidential Commission on National Integration. She currently serves as the spokesperson for the Korean Association of Social Workers and as the branch head of the Social Welfare Branch of the Korean Public Service and Transport Workers’ Union.
