Sept. 5, 2024: Dr. Oh gave a lecture about "UAM Ecosystem and talent development system" to the Hyundai Motors AAM headquarter.
June 17 ~ Sept. 13, 2024: Four students (Jihoon Shin, Taeju Lee, Biju Cho, & Yeon Chae) completed their GRA research internship at Algoma University, Canada. This project was sponsored by the MITACS foundation of Canada. The four students stayed 11 weeks in the Toronto metropolitan area to conduct the research project. The Autonomous Vehicles lab(AVL) of Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) participated in the drone test procedure. Dr. Ajmery Sultana at Algoma University supervised the four students for the research activities during their stay at Canada. The collaborative research project focused on the application of quantum magnetometers as a potential alternative method for UAM (Urban Air Mobility) localization, aiming to complement the limitations of conventional GPS-based systems. Under Dr. Sultana’s offline supervision and Dr. Oh’s remote guidance, the team conducted drone-based localization tests in downtown Toronto, comparing the performance and signal stability of two drones: one equipped with an RTK-GPS and the other with a quantum magnetometer. They also developed a digital twin system that visualizes the localization signal strength at the test locations using a 3D graphics engine platform.
Aug. 25 ~ Aug. 29, 2024: The International Ergonomics Association 2024 (IEA 2024) was held in Jeju International Convention Center (ICC Jeju). Dr. Oh participated in the IEA organizing group. He gave a presentation of "Evaluation of Pilots’ Perception While Using Past, Current, and Emerging Aircraft Taxiing Support Technologies" and conducted a session chair role (Aerospace session) during this academic event.
