- After spending some time looking for culprits, I had found out that two files included in the tar archive from the wiki setup guide ( _E220) were to blame, 10-huawei-e220.fdi and 50-huawei-e220.rules specifically. The setup script (also included in the archive) installs the HAL and Udev rules which help identify the modem right, and, in a way, these two prevent HAL from setting the modem.command_sets key. I found out my Huawei E220 is detected with no problems even without these two files, so I simply deleted them, which resulted in correct key, like the lshal output shows:

It's one of those little daemon started by networkmanager-dispatcher that automatically create the lock file and set up modem specific parameters alone. With that i had 100% out-of-the-box compatibility with both huawei and ZTE MF627.

Huawei Dialer App Download

We should note that our MediaPad came with no dialer app out of the box. A bit of Googling revealed that a small, bootleg APK can enable that but the dialer works only in landscape and looks like it came out of Android 1.5 Cupcake. You can grab the file from here.

Anyway, it is possible to make voice calls and send/receive SMS messages with the Huawei MediaPad, even if the experience isn't very polished (there's no smart dialing, for example). You can try one of the many third-party dialers if you don't like this one.

There have been a lot of great articles that guide you how to write an internet dialer for regular modem (and most of them work for 3G modems too) but some information is missing, for example, signal strength, connection mode (GSM, GPRS, EDEG, HSDPA, etc.) and other information which is wireless modem related.

The problem that I face is that I have a USB modem of Huawei Model No: EC 156. It's a Tata Photon + modem (for fellow Indian readers). When I plug that device into a USB port, it's supposed to autoplay and take me to the installer which would install the drivers and the dialer (that's what the Customer Care of Tata Photon + has told me). But, it doesn't autoplay or install anything.

Huawei smartphones are popular and widely used among Clever Dialer users. Unfortunately, they all have one annoying feature: Without asking you, they aggressively close apps as soon as you lock the screen to save battery, including apps that may need to run in the background. This means: Your Huawei smartphone deactivates the Clever Dialer app that you installed for protection. Therefore, you cannot be reliably warned from spam calls. Antivirus apps, parental controls, fitness or GPS navigation apps are also affected.\n\n\n\nBut there is hope! You can prevent your Huawei smartphone from closing apps even if you lock the screen.\n\n\n\nHere we go:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nStep 1.\n\n\n\nUnlock your Huawei smartphone and open the Settings appTap on the Battery setting category\n\n\n\n\n\nStep 2.\n\n\n\nHere open the App launch category\n\n\n\n\n\nStep 3.\n\n\n\nSimply flip the switch to set up manual management of the Clever Dialer app\n\n\n\n\n\nStep 4.\n\n\n\nTo fix all problems, we recommend to allow the Clever Dialer app to run all three activitiesAuto-launch Secondary launch Run in background\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is how it should look like. You've made it!\n\n\n\nFrom now on, the Clever Dialer app will always run in the background, even if you lock your smartphone screen.\n\n\n\n\n\nOn what Huawei smartphones does it work?

This tutorial has been successfully tested on a Huawei P10 Plus. It should work on ALL Huawei smartphones that have EMUI version 8 or later with Android 8 Oreo. This includes the following models: Huawei P10, Huawei P20 Pro, Huawei P20 Lite and the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 20 family.\n\n\n\nIf these instructions did not help, you can take a look at https:\/\/dontkillmyapp.com\/huawei.\n\n\n\nIf you have any questions, please contact support@cleverdialer.com

Note 2: Although this app was pulled from an existing EMUI 9 build and integrates with the dialer, if you still wish to ascertain that this is safe, you can check the analysis of this app on VirusTotal.

Since I suspect that this is because of low free RAM (I have a low-end Android phone), I recently installed optimization apps, kept my homescreen free from widgets and running apps etc. and it did help to an extent. However, I feel like it still needs to be lightning fast and always accessible feature like in conventional handsets. How can I achieve this? How do I lock the dialer in my RAM or is there some super light dialer apps that can replace this stock dialer?

This is likely a combination of two things: a) stuff that the dialer has to load on startup and b) possibly shortage of memory (RAM) created by loading those things. The biggest gains are to be had by resolving (a) however, this will also have the side effect of resolving (b)

I experienced a similar situation with my Samsung Galaxy GT-i5700 (SPICA), and I got up to a very weird solution to this:

It seems that the huge number of SMS was causing the mobile to further slow down (apart from the large number of apps in the device). I then deleted many of the messages, and there was a significant improvement in the dialer operating speeds.

I don't know whether the same thing would work for you, it's only a loophole I discovered on my mobile (Fact: Samsung SPICA can only accomodate up to 2000 SMS). I can only say you can give it a try (of course, this stands true only if you have many SMS stored on your device).

I have the same issue with my Huawei Ascend G7. I went to their service centre and what they told me is that "there is an issue with google play services latest update" and this bug won't fix until huawei launches an update of their version. That means we will have to wait and can't do anything long term to solve this issue. 17dc91bb1f
