Safety and public relations are two very real concerns at this run. We are a fat ass run, and thus have no permits, insurance, etc. To that end, there are a few things you should know about/be reminded of.
We MUST maintain a low profile. This means staying out of the road at Twin Peaks - please stay on the sidewalk until it is time to run and after you complete your run. The police cruise by on a regular basis and they DO notice us. We are not breaking the law but that will make little difference if a cop gets pissed off.
If you choose to have alcohol, please, please do so with extreme discretion - alcohol IS against the law. We almost got busted one year because of this.
Be very careful crossing the roads during your run. People are hit by cars in San Francisco all the time. One year, there was a fatality on the day of our run. Fortunately, it wasn't one of our runners. This isn't a race, so waiting on the curb an extra 20 seconds until it is safe to cross is not going to matter.
As noted in the parking section, car break-ins are a real concern. Do NOT leave anything valuable in your car! Don't even leave anything in your car that might LOOK interesting. San Francisco is the car break-in capital of California. We have had runners' cars broken into in the past.
