Research Fields
Acquisition of flow information such as pressure, temperature, density, chemical composition, and flow rate is critical to experimental aerothermodynamics studies and verification of numerical simulations. The development of novel flow diagnostic techniques is one of the main research fields in XAP Lab.
Flow phenomena in extreme aerodynamic environments such as hypersonic and reentry condition are very complicated. For better understanding of these flow phenomena, experimental studies with advanced optical diagnostic techniques are essential.
Flow diagnostic techniques can be used for onboard sensor systems in real-flight vehicles. Sensor technologies for real environment applications require consideration of efficient packaging, mechanical and electrical integrity, and performance validation.
Gas turbine systems can be utilized as a propulsion system. Understanding combustion characteristics in gas turbine combustors using measurement techniques is critical to design a combustor. In XAP Lab, experimental investigation on gas turbine combustors is one of the main research areas.
