Hair Pullers Anonymous (HPA) is a international fellowship of individuals who, through our shared experience, strength, and hope are recovering from compulsive hair pulling, also known as trichotillomania.  We follow the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous

Zoom Meetings:

• Thursday evenings from 8:00-9:00 PM US Eastern Time Zone

• Saturday mornings from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM US Eastern Time Zone

• Sunday evenings from 8:00-9:00 PM US Eastern Time Zone

Please email us at trichrecovery@yahoo.com and confirm whether you are a hair puller and over the age of 18.  Once we receive that information, we will send the conference call details.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

1. Who is eligible to join HPA?

   • Hair pullers who are over the age of 18 and have the desire to stop pulling their hair out.

2. Are there dues or fees?

   • There are no dues or fees for HPA membership. 

3. I can't make these meeting times.  Are there others? 

   • We have 30 minute check-in calls during the week.  You must join either the Saturday or Sunday call once in order to get information about the check-in calls during the weekdays.

4. Are the meetings on Zoom?

   • As a newcomer you will be invited first to the Saturday morning (a Zoom meeting) or Sunday evening meeting (conference call over the phone).  Once you join your first meeting, you will learn about other meetings during the week, some of which are still on the phone and some of which are on Zoom.

5. I am not a hair puller, but a person who cares for or about one.  Can I join the call?

   • The meetings are for hair pullers only.  Please have your client or loved one over the age of 18 contact us directly.

6. I emailed a few days ago, but did not receive a response.

   • Our email account is checked once a week as a service position, usually on the weekends.  Please be patient, and someone will get back to you.  

7. Are persons outside the U.S. allowed to join?

   • Yes, the only criteria for membership is to be a hair puller with a desire to stop and over the age of 18.  Please note that the conference call number is U.S. based, but there is an app you can download on your phone in order to join the call.

8. I am a hair puller who is not over the age of 18.

   • Unfortunately, you will not be able to join our group until you are 18.  In the meantime, please check out resources at bfrb.org.
