Now we've gotten a shipment of Latitude 7330's, and no matter what drivers I inject, WinPE does not see the drive at all*. I even imported all the storage drivers from Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver and Application | Driver Details | Dell US and redeployed my boot image, still nothing.

Then I download the actual chipset drivers and display drivers and download and install them and reboot, then try the SATA RAID driver installer again, and its a no-go, still only gives me options for display drivers.

I set it up with a similar process of how I'm doing this one. By that, I mean Windows was already installed on the harddrive and the system was in AHCI mode, then I switched it over to RAID mode in BIOS, configured the RAID on my other 4 drives, and booted into Windows. Was able to install RAID driver afterwards, but the RAID volume itself was even available for access before having the driver. (and no, Windows didn't get a chance to download the driver before I checked if it was usable).

Hi. Looking at the manual you're right - all raid mode or not at all (chapter 4.1.3) And probably because the RAID drivers aren't booted by default unless installed in Raid mode it isn't working. Not got this board so assuming some things but nothing here should corrupt anything - i'd backup first though.

Or while in safe mode device manager-click top item (computer) on the right- Action-Add Legacy HW-next install manually- have disk and select the intel chipset raid drivers. reboot as per the ms article. Possibly a repair or 2 is needed after rebooting. Good luck


And as for attempting to manually install the SATA RAID drivers - Looking through the directory of literally over a dozen INF files... C:\AMD-RAID\AMD-Chipset-Drives\Package\Drivers\SBDrv\ - everything in the "Bolton\" and "hseries\" subfolders error that they are incompatible with the system (even the ones labeled WT64A\ - Windows 10 64bit).

There are two other subfolders to SBDrv\ - RAID_NVMe\, and RAID_BR\. I'm not using NVMe drives (and I did make sure to download the "SATA only" version of the installer), so I assumed RAID_BR\ is the one I'm looking for. That has 3 subfolders. RAID_bottom\, RAID_cfg\, and RAID_driver\. In the latter two, cfg and driver, they each have "W7\" "W764A\" and "WT64A\" folders, each containing an INF file, SYS file and others. Attempting to add legacy drivers with the W*64A\ folders does not error that it is incompatible, however it doesn't load up a device to select to continue installing drivers. The ONLY one that did is in the "RAID_bottom\WT64A\" folder, which gave me the "AMD-RAID bottom device" driver - upon clicking "next" to start installing it, and almost immediate blue screen.I unfortunately didn't get the specific stop code, and I can't even get it from event viewer... "The system could not sucessfully load the crash dump driver" (yes, it is literally misspelled in the event viewer).

So after a brief system restore to remove that driver, with the assistance of a Win10 installation flash drive... We're back to the start where the OS will not boot when the controller is in RAID mode, and I can't install the RAID driver while it is not. As much as I don't want to deal with the overhead of having a software RAID, it's looking like that may be my best option.

1. Windows: Requires that the specific drivers for your disk device be installed and registered as "boot-start". See Installing a Boot-Start Driver - Windows drivers | Microsoft Docs for more details. This is where the INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE error comes from.

3. Driver installer: The installer package refuses to install and register the RAID drivers unless it can already see the RAID devices in the device manager. So you can't pre-install the drivers before switching to RAID mode.

I tried an insane number of things to get it to work, but in the end I bought a cheap, generic SATA card for $20. I hooked my boot drive to it, switched the firmware to enable RAID, and booted. The system came up, and immediately detected the new RAID feature and I could install the drivers. Shutdown, clone the drive over to the RAID volume, remove the RAID card, reboot, and everything was working (regarding the RAID).

What I didn't fully understand when I upgraded was that the x570 does not allow separate logic for enabling RAID on Sata and/or nVME (like my x399 did)... so when I enabled SATA Raid mode (no mention of nvme on the option) on my x570 so that my pre-existing SATA mirror would move smoothly across (which it did), imagine my surprise when suddenly all my nVME tools/dashboards no longer worked in my new build because SMART wasn't passing through the AMD-Raid drivers which were now also covering my nVME drives as well... not what I asked for.

So what I've done is disable RAID in the x570 BIOS and installed my HighPoint HBA RAID card to take over my data mirror... but was surprized yet once again when Win10 kept a hold of wanting to use the AMD-RAID drivers for the nVME and Sata drives (not connected to the HBA).

I figured out pretty quickly though that I could select the "bottom" devices for my nVME drives in Device Manager, update the driver, and scanning for driver software happily found and switched over to using the MS "Standard NVM Express Controller "... very nice, something that happened as expected!

How do I permanently and unconditionally uninstall these RAID Drivers? It's not like they are needed to boot or any other important reason... and reinstalling windows is not an acceptable answer for something as simple and everyday as installing/uninstalling drivers.

Sadly I was unable to get Smart Array drivers to work during winows server 2019 install. I worked with HPE support all day and tried approx 9 different driver versions as well updating the Bios, the ilo and installed a jumbo 10GB firmware service pack.

If you come across this issue, make sure you created your USB drive in accordance with your BIOS settings (UEFI of Legacy). One I recreated my USB drive using rufus ( ) in UEFI mode, the driver (I believe cp037222) got accepted and I was able to install the OS.

The NI 8262 is the MXI link for the raid controller. This card will be installed if you have PXI Platform Services (which is found in many of NI's drivers such as DAQmx, NI-VISA, etc). You can also get this here: . It sounds as if you are actually needing the driver for your RAID device which would be an 8363 or an 8364. Do you know which one you have?

If you installed the drivers after the PCIe card I would try shutting down the system and putting the PCIe device in a new slot, this should help the drivers associate with the card. You may also be able to point the card to the driver using windows device manger.

Do you know what kind of of card the unknown card is? You may be missing the drivers for the unknown card, for example if you have a DAQ card you will need to install the DAQmx driver before you can use that card.

You can install one after the other 2 or 3 different driver versions (examples: v11.2.0.1006, 11.7.4.1001 and 12.8.0.1016) and compare them regarding stability and performance. If you do not realize performance differences, you can run a benchmark tool like HDTune or CrystalDiskMark.


General personal statements:


 The newest drivers are not always the best. Even if they should be the best for some hardware configurations, this is not automaticly valid for all hardware configurations.

 Users with an older Intel chipset should always keep in mind, that the chipset manufacturer Intel only develops drivers for the newest and for the upcoming chipsets and not for the older ones. Although many of the new drivers are backwards compatible with older AHCI and RAID Controllers, they are not or may not be optimized for them.

I need to do some offline troubleshooting so I cloned the disk and installed it in another server with what I thought was the same controller since they are both MegaRAID. However, while they have a similar name, they are different. This product has been bought and sold numerous times with each new manufacturer changing it enough to require different drivers.

The server that will be used for troubleshooting has an older generation Broadcom/LSI MegaRAID SAS 9260 card in it using driver "rste" while the source server that was cloned has the newer generation Avago MegaRAID SAS 9361 using driver "lsi_mr3". They use different drivers and despite the hypervisor loading fine on the clone, the datastore is not visible. Do you think if I get the same Avago controller that uses the lsi_mr3 driver, the datastore will be accessible on the cloned server?

Attempts made so far is to CTRL+C at the initial boot menu of the ISO, edit GRUB and adding in inst.dd. This addition forces the kernel to prompt for a driver pack before the OS loads. However none of the driver packs work, none direct from Dell, the SAS card manufacturer and some opensource packs.

I am having trouble getting the kernel to recognize the raid drivers which my card uses. The install of arch is fresh. The raid card is a HighPoint RocketRaid 2300. I browsed the AUR and found a PKGBUILD for an older version of the driver written by LoneWolf. I updated it to fit my needs.

The raid card is still not functioning. Instead of seeing a raid array I see the individual HDD's which are connected to the raid card which is something I could see even before running makepkg.
