The drivers from HP for the HP Photosmart C4480 All-in-One Printer appear to be for very old Mac OS X versions. Instead, you may want to check whether the HP 5.1.1 Printer Software Update package from Apple could be used with your computer and operating system. Look upon this as an experiment. It may or may not work. It is true that the system requirements indicate that macOS 12 is not compatible, but there have been reports about other printers working with this package anyway. Something like the HP Photosmart C4400 series version 5.0.5 driver mentioned in the Printer and scanner drivers for Mac - Apple Support article could perhaps be worth a try. Software conflicts cannot be ruled out, so make sure that you have backup copies of all important files (documents, photos, et cetera) before testing anything.

Thank you for the update. Have you also tried resetting the printing system and re-adding the printer (links above)? Any other printer drivers (perhaps for similar models) under Use: that could be tested? Again, this would be purely experimental.

This same message came up on the same day (Oct 23, 2020) with a different model HP LaserJet printer, and I've found many people posting to the HP website: same message, same day, same problem. We're using Mojave, but it seems to be that someone decided to not support older printers any longer. HP driver software (latest I can download) won't work with Mojave, nor does Mac's printer software seem to work. Delete/reset printing system/re-add all seem to initially work until it comes time to print. The printer acts as if there's a previous print-job in queue (though nothing there) along with the same error message as yours.

I have exactly the same problem, with a different HP printer, HP Deskjet 6980, and on two computers, a MacBook Air running Mojave 10.14.6 and a very new MacBook Pro running Catalina 10.15.7. The problem appeared literally overnight, I had changed nothing. Downloading and reinstalling the driver software does not help.

The printer is a model in the family of the HP Photosmart C4400. Its model product numbers are Q8388A, Q8388B and Q8398C. This device is an all-in-one printer with the ability to print, copy and scan documents with high quality and speed.

I need to obtain the drivers for my HP Photosmart C4480 all in one printer.

I cant find them on the HP website and their support wizard gives me a link that doesn't work.

This problem has been answered on the forum a few times with a link to the drivers but these don't work anymore.

I have installed the latest version of Big Sur 11.3.1 and after that I cannot use the printer HP C4480. I cannot even download the drivers and in 123.hp.com the printer does not even appear. When I log in my profile in HP the only item to download is an update from 2014. I already downloaded and installed it and nothing happens.

After you get the 205,09 MB (HP Photosmart C4480 All-in-One printer driver for windows 7.exe or HP Photosmart C4480 All-in-One printer driver for windows 8 8.1 and 10.exe) installation file double click on .exe file. Then follow the setup steps.

At 17.1 x 11.4 x 6.4 inches, the C4480 is relatively compact for an all-in-one; however, we'd still recommend using a separate printer stand to leave a little room on your desk. It connects via a USB 2.0 cable and can print directly from its 5-in-1 memory card reader. We liked being able to preview photos on the 1.5-inch LCD, though the display is too small for accurate picture editing, such as red-eye correction. The 2.5-inch LCD on the Epson WorkForce 500 is more suited for that task. 0852c4b9a8
