We live in a deeply polarized country, where trans rights have increasingly become a point of division. In the face of this, I encourage everyone to find their own way to resist such fragmentation—whether through community organizing, voting, supporting mutual aid, or simply showing greater kindness to those around us.
This zine is my personal contribution to that effort. Written over several months, it contains information current through August 2024. While I have no plans to release a second issue at this time, I hope this one remains a helpful resource for years to come.
While the fundamentals of gender-affirming medical care are unlikely to undergo dramatic changes, the landscape of what is covered by insurance and permitted by law may shift as the new administration takes office in 2025.
For the most up-to-date information on gender-affirming care, I encourage you to seek out reputable sources such as the ACLU, the Human Rights Campaign, your healthcare providers, and your local community. If you choose to share this zine with a patient or friend, please remind them that it is intended as a starting point—an introduction to the topic, not a comprehensive guide.
