Howling Coyote Mechanics

The Project

So Dad and Papa came home with this 1977 Ford F-150. Dad bought it from a buddy who had purchased it to rebuild with his son but his son was not interested. I'd told Dad that I wanted to learn about mechanics and I think he intended to work on this with me and sell it. They were trying to trick me and thinking I would not be interested, Dad and Papa came in and said "Go check out your new truck". I went outside, looked it over and fell in love. Dad and Papa's plan backfired and now at the ripe old age of 13, I have a truck.

After talking it over with Mom and Dad, they agreed to let me keep it and I have named it The Smokey Stopper (a nod to Smokey and the Bandit) but my folks call it Turderella! Dad agreed that it would be a fun project and decided if I really wanted to learn all about mechanics, we should do a frame off restoration. He sold another car they had to raise some funds to get started. The plan is to totally restore this truck over the next couple of years to be ready when I am 16. We plan to keep it mostly original as I think it is a somewhat rare truck. At least that's what the Marti Report says.
