1. Using speech to text, this phone does a terrible job of recognizing my words, even if I go very slowly. I'm a native to California, and my English is fine. I have no accent that I know of. No matter how slowly I talk, the phone messes up on most words. How can I make it more accurate? It alsop seems like there a bunch of normal words the phone doesn't know, e.g, dehumidifier. It can give me suggestions to fix what I type in but it cannot come up with that correct word when I say it.

2. Especially when I am using the messaging app (not a Google one), I get auto-punctuation. It is inserted in the middle of sentences and what it puts at the end of a sentence is mostly wrong. How do I stop auto-punctuation?

How To Stop Auto App Download In Samsung

I've had an LG phone, a OnePlus phone, and even a Motorola flip phone many years ago. None of them ever messed up so badly on these two items. In fact, this is the first time I've had auto-punctuation. I was a computer programmer for many years. Whoever wrote the auto-punctuation code should be transferred to the mail room or the janitorial staff and never allowed to do any more software on the phone, IMHO.

We need to get Samsung to look back at their S6 Active keyboard and voice input system. It was super accurate, understood punctuations, and most impressive they gave a list of homophone words as an edit options. It was genius, I dont know why they got rid of it. That function really helped with accent too. S6 Active 2015 keyboard was way ahead of any 2024 keyboard.

TessM, you didn't answer the question. I have the same issue. We know how to disable auto workouts, but I like them. All I need is to be able manually stop the auto workout after I finish i.e. cycling. The auto workout stop automatically, but sometimes the timer keeps running for much longer, hence I'd loke to have an option to click the green icon at the bottom and stop auto workout. At the moment no buttons anle to stop it on my active 2. Thanks.

Auto activity tracking starts which is great but I haven't worked out how to stop it. Sometimes is carried on for 10 minutes or more after I've stopped but there's no pause or finish options. I don't want to disable this feature, but just to know how to stop it when it gets started. The only way I found to stop it is to stand perfectly still for 30 seconds or more which is pretty impossible and silly.

@Valentina Paris: If you swipe right on the Workout screen, are you able to Pause or Finish the tracking from here? If you're walking or running, you may see the option to switch to Manual exercise after it has been automatically recognised. If this is the case, switch to Manual, then swipe right to Pause or Finish the workout.

I tried swiping all directions and clicking all buttons but nothing, I couldn't find an option to stop it. Regarding switching to manual, sometimes I don't even notice that the watch automatically detected the activity (for example while walking) and after a few minutes it's no longer possible to switch to manual, at least I couldn't find that option either. I also tried opening the Samsung health app both on the watch and on the phone (galaxy s21+), but I couldn't find a way to either stop the activity or switch to manual. Am I getting something wrong or simply there is no way around this?

@Valentina Paris: You're not doing anything wrong, so don't worry. When you stop doing some exercises for more than one minute, the Watch automatically recognises that you have stopped exercising and recording will end. I understand that you have attempted this previously, and recommend resting for a minute following any workouts to allow the feature time to recognise that you are no longer active. Alternatively, although not ideal, manually start and end your workouts to allow for more accurate readings.

I do start my workouts manually, except for walking (for example whith my dogs), so when I'm back home I don't really need to rest and I don't always have the option to stand still for a minute (I have to go somewhere, cooking, etc.), so the option to either stop an auto dected activity or switch to manual whenever I need, it'd be very useful. I hope Samsung will implement this feature, is there a way to send this request/feedback?

I had the same issue. I didn't want to stop for a minute either. Turn the watch off and on again. That ends it and after a minute the autorecorded workout should appear in the samsung health app. Worked for me

But since this is an article, I (an Android user myself) will be taking you to the root of the problem and suggesting you some ways to avoid this, and yes you can call me Santa Clause because, at some point, this is exactly what you wished for, out of frustration.

Hence, some developers write little scripts in their websites that make your phone install certain apps or .apk files or other stuff by themselves, as soon as you visit those sites. Of course, you can uninstall/delete them later but this irritates you for sure.

No, this is just an irritating way of earning money as it (usually) causes no harm. However, some sites that can insert viruses or malware or trojans in your devices, so you need to update your antivirus.

Enabling Unknown Sources will allow downloading and installation of applications from any website across the internet. You can disable this feature which will stop apps from downloading by themselves.

Many adware and spam applications cling to famous applications which are safe and are downloaded by the users. The applications are installed in the form of updates and the user thinks that these updates are for the genuine application which they have installed.

Once you have disabled automatic app updates on the Google Play Store, you can manually permit the installation of updates whenever you want. This way, nothing will be updated without your permission.

You need to get the default Stock ROM back which was available for your Android smartphone as it should fix the auto app download problem for you. Installing Stock ROM on your Android device will restrict the installation of third-party applications which we usually see with custom ROMs.

Once you have logged out of Google account on your Android device, change its password and login back in. As all the old sessions will get cleared, it should stop the installation of random applications on your Android device.

Restricting background data is also one of the most helpful ways to prevent automatic unwanted downloads by apps on Android. All the malicious applications consume background data/WiFi connection to download apps automatically or upload your valuable data, logs, and passwords to hackers in the form of an image.

Once you have restricted the background data, it will prevent automatic unwanted apps downloading on your Android smartphone and will allow only all those apps that you have allowed from the setting manually.

Factory reset on Android is also a good option to consider if apps are getting automatically installed on Android devices. Factory restore will delete all the files and settings which you are having on your Android smartphone or tablet, so make sure that you are having a backup of your Android device.

- Give me the option to disable the soundbar control and just output sound to optical. The TV will occasionally "forget" there is a soundbar connected, so the option to disable that entirely would be nice.

This is not fixed, "Solved!" with the solution being we'll look into it. Still a year later my TV still has more control over itself than I do. I will not be buying another Samsung TV (I have a Q series) again. This TV has many issues with auto detect not correctly detecting devices I plug in. It has control to switch my laptop display settings to the last settings it sometimes remembers, when plugged in with a HDMI it starts other devices plugged in it also does not know how to detect. To stop the auto detect I have to cancel it with the remote and then it will have switched the display input to the last HDMI port that was just triggered during auto detect that it cant register. WHY IS THERE NO OFF BUTTON FOR THIS FEATURE? If you are watching something and plug in a new device the auto detect feature will switch the input over and start detecting for up to a minute before failing and saying unknown while stuck on the newly switched display port and then you must switch manually back to what you were watching or fix the "unknown device". The auto on feature with whatever HDMI input you left the TV on needs a disable option as well. ie The TV gets turned off with HDMI 1 last being used and depending on that device the tv will turn it back on when you power up the TV so then I have to turn off that device maybe have to get up or turn on the remote for that device if its not what I wanted to use. This TV is maybe good for elderly who use TV and a bluray only and have issues switch back and forth between the two. Auto features need options to disable them for issues like this.

This is not a solution. It is an empty "thank you, come again."

I will never buy another Samsung TV because of this horrid interface constantly "Helping" me with no way for me to tell it to never touch my UI again. One of the most frustrating useless product UI's I have ever experienced.

Then this forum, you try to submit the post and it gives you a "you sure you want to leave this page and lose your data warning." I say no because that seems broken and is an awful inaccurate error... and then it says I'm flooding the channel with replies, then I see my post twice. I delete one and both are gone... jeeesh. I thought Samsung was a top notch tech company. Blew that incorrect notion out of the water today.
