Method 1: Using the Pairing Wizard
This method works for Hopper, Joey, and Wally receivers with 40.0 remotes. Follow these steps to use the pairing wizard:
Press the Home button twice on your remote.
If you have a 40.0 remote, press the Menu button.
Select Settings.
Select Remote Control.
Choose your device (TV, DVD, or AUX).
Select the Pairing Wizard.
Follow the onscreen prompts to enter the code for your TV brand and model. You can find the code list [here].
Test the remote functions to see if it works with your TV.
Method 2: Using the Manual Method
This method works for VIP receivers with 20.0, 20.1, 21.0, and 21.1 series remotes. Follow these steps to use the manual method:
Turn on your TV and point your remote at it.
Press and hold the mode button that corresponds to your device (TV, DVD, or AUX) until all four mode buttons light up.
Enter the code for your TV brand and model. You can find the code list [here].
If you are programming in AUX mode, you must press a number before entering the code: 0 for a TV, 1 for a VCR/DVD, or 2 for any other device.
Press the button. The mode button you are programming will flash three times.
Press the Power button. Your TV should turn off.
Turn on your TV again and test the remote functions to see if it works with your TV.
Method 3: Using the Code Search Method
This method works for any type of Dish Network remote. It scans through all the codes until it finds one that works with your TV. Follow these steps to use the code search method:
Turn on your TV and point your remote at it.
Press and hold the mode button that corresponds to your device (TV, DVD, or AUX) until all four mode buttons light up.
Press the Power button once.
Press the Up or Down arrow button repeatedly until your TV turns off.
Press the button to save the code. The mode button you are programming will flash three times.
Turn on your TV again and test the remote functions to see if it works with your TV.
If none of these methods work for you, you may need to contact Dish Network customer service or visit their website for more help. You can also try using a universal remote that is compatible with both Dish Network and Sceptre devices.
