So I've recently dug up my old Lego Mindstorms RIS 2.0 (RCX) and have spent the past few days trying to install it into my Windows 7 laptop. It worked fine, except it could not find the correct drivers for the IR tower. Installing it on a Windows XP Virtual machine has given the same result.

The LEGO Mindstorms NXT driver has the same vendor ID (vid) but not the same PID.When you modify the .inf file and deactivate the driver signature, the driver is well installed, but tower is not able to communicate with leJOSdriver found here:

I'm seeking advice on where to buy a desktop tower PC for video editing. I don't want to build my own, so I first looked at Lenovo because I've had a good experience with my 2019 Lenovo laptop. I had to call them to clarify specs displayed on the website. Briefly, for some model, there was no way to tell which ports were actually present, or if there was an optical disc drive. The salesman didn't seem interested in fixing the issue. I've lost a bit of respect for them.

I don't do video, so no first-hand experience here. Your requirements are very easy to meet. Even my relatively inexpensive laptop (~$700) is better equipped. Just about any brand will have something that meets your specifications. 16GB is way too small to be useful even for stills, let alone video. I have good luck with Dell, HP, and Lenovo. I am typing on a 3 yo Dell XPS desktop with i7, 64 GB and RTX2060 GPU (6GB). I may upgrade to RTX3000 series in the near future since prices have come down quite a bit now.

I wouldn't look so much at a large tower for drives. Get a motherboard that can handle multiple NVME. Four or more isn't uncommon today. I have a mid tower. I could mount four NVME. Two SSD on the back of the motherboard tray. I think four HDD in the very tight PSU basement area. That's in theory. The motherboard won't support that many. But the relatively small case has the room.

I have two computers I bought from Digital Storm that I've been very happy with and my next one will probably be Digital Storm as well. They custom build to your specs. You can go to their web site and assemble a "fantasy" machine with the parts you want and see how much it costs. They are a bit cheaper than Puget and have some parts that I consider "must haves" that Puget doesn't offer; a liquid cooling system for one.

There are couple differences. The biggest difference is the screen. I will be using a 27" external monitor instead of the laptop screen. The laptop screen is not bad, but nothing special and will only be used on the road. Also, the GPU is RTX3050 instead of 3070. Finally, it only has 512GB instead of 1TB. But this laptop is only used for travel, not my main computer.

And if not I'd go the build it yourself route if you have the knowledge (or can grab a friend who does). It's not too hard especially in a tower case to put together, just if anything doesn't work that first time troubleshooting can be a pain.

I use Opera browser which (for me) can often go to 8+ gig RAM. That's my workflow. I'm happy with it, and I'd rather have more RAM than mess with it. (My laptop has 40 gig so I don't even have to think of it)

I had driven down to Florida from Pennsylvania and brought my desktop with me as I built it, and wasn't gonna be down here for a month without it. Long story short, my transmission blew before I was supposed to head back, and now I've got a plane ticket to go back to PA tomorrow. Question is, what do I do with my desktop? I purchased a carry-on bag for my flight, but I have no luggage big enough to fit the tower into. I was just going to remove the sensitive hardware and place it in my clothes bag, then just wrap the PC in teflon or something, and put the semi-hollow tower itself in the overhead bin.

A tower is not that different from a laptop. Just be sure there aren't any sharp parts that might be seen as dangerous. Also, be sure the tower is within the allowed size by the airline for carry-on luggage.

Tip: I would try to wrap the tower in some bubble plastic. It will work as protection and as a cushion to some trepidation in the airplane. Also create some kind of handle. It's not very confortable to transport a box like that.

Where I used to work, we had a user complaining he couldn't get his work email to work and had multiple issues accessing network drives and files on and off. When I checked, the user had installed Steam and a couple of games on his company issued laptop. Part of either Steam or one of the games had been a "network optimization" package ... ripped all that stuff out, rebooted and look, work stuff worked, told him DO NOT install any of that again or would be reported to HR and management. So yes, games ... on a company/work device, remove!

After testing 20 laptop stands, we found that the Rain Design iLevel 2 offers the best combination of stability, adjustability, and sleek style. Paired with an external keyboard and mouse, the iLevel 2 is the ideal centerpiece of an ergonomic workstation.

Its solid one-piece design makes it less wobbly than cheaper laptop stands, which typically require assembly. But unlike our other picks, it has a fixed height lift (5.9 inches), so it might not be the best ergonomic fit for all.

The Rain Design iLevel 2 is the best laptop stand for the widest range of body types and laptops thanks to its sturdy anodized aluminum design and its easy-to-use adjustment knob. No other laptop stand we tested was as quick and simple to set up for different heights, laptops, and postures. It also looks nice sitting on a desk.

Its height range can accommodate many people. Though the height range will vary slightly depending on the depth of your laptop, the iLevel 2 raises the back of a laptop roughly 6.5 inches above the desk surface on its lowest setting and 8.5 inches at its highest level. That range is tall enough to raise a laptop to eye level for many people sitting at a desk (but, again, because everyone has different torso sizes, we recommend measuring the height you would want your laptop raised to).

If you want to splurge on a stylish wood laptop stand: The HumanCentric Laptop Stand is an attractive, fixed laptop stand that has a black walnut or maple wood top and a sturdy cylindrical metal base. But it lacks the heat dissipation and cable organization that the mStand offers.

You can adjust the Nulaxy C1 from 2.4 to 10.6 inches, but the adjustment mechanism is stiff to the point of annoyance. The Rain Design iLevel 2 is a better option for easy adjustability, and if you need a tall laptop stand, we recommend the Lifelong Upryze instead because of its wider height range.

In Tactical War, your main goal is to protect your base. And to do that, you need to build different kinds of towers that are strategically placed all around your base. These towers will be manned by your soldiers, who will shoot at your enemies. However, you need to be careful because they will have something bigger and better for you to face in each wave of enemy soldiers. For example, they sometimes have vehicles that make shooting at them difficult since they move fast. So, you need to upgrade your towers to keep up with your enemies.
