For those that didn't have the pleasure to see the old Novell Netware snakes screensaver, I'll say here that it was the default Netware screensaver, in console/text mode. It showed one snake for each CPU you had (99.9% of people had just 1 really). The cool thing is that the snakes became longer and longer as your server load increased. They also started going faster.

Anyway, this is one of those little time-wasting projects that usually go nowhere. I started working on a clone of this Netware screensaver in 2007. I remember I wanted to figure out how to write an xscreensaver "hack", so I spent a weekend looking at the source code for all the existing hacks, and I picked popsquares.c as a base and started tearing it apart, injecting dubious amounts of crappy C code until it did what I wanted.

Fast forward 4 years. Yesterday, for some reason, I got back to it, cleaned up the code a bit, and implemented a "fantastic" new feature I've always wanted: different snake colors for every different CPU, instead of all snakes being red. So I did, and the result is, well, see it for yourself:

You MUST use a thermostat with any heater you use. One of these here is a great choice, highly recommended by keepers. Place the probe on the hot spot, where the snake will be, and verify that the reading is accurate with an IR gun, like one of these here.

For tropical species that require both higher temperature and relative humidity, you may need to add a fogger. But for most popular snake species like ball pythons and corn snakes and such, you should be able to get away with just a large water bowl.

And unlike the baby slider snake, you can get away without an anchor keyring or clip on this snake. If you decide to skip the anchor, then start at the tail end of the snake instead of the head.

Snakes are also always out there. My advice to you is to not be like me and the woman who helped save the snake that ultimately killed her. Beware of snakes. They're gross. And, dangerous. They are also everywhere. Except Ireland. I will have more on that one later. I learned a few weeks ago that St. Bridget is actually responsible for a ton of stuff that St. Patrick gets credit for. I would love to say that I am shocked by that. Nope. Not shocked. Not one single little tiny bit shocked.

It's hard to get excited about progress when you a snake tries to take you down. It's challenging to feel optimistic when all of this is happening right in front of my/our eyes in 2022. It's not fair. It never will be. I have accepted that. I just won't accept it quietly, peacefully, or privately. A strong woman stands up for herself. A stronger woman stands up for others. I am gonna life some weights and bulk up. I have had enough of this crap. So I am going to do this my way on my terms and possibly fail spectacularly. We'll see, I guess.

A fire snake, also referred to as a black snake or sugar snake, is a classic science experiment you can do right in your own kitchen using a baking soda and sugar mixture and a fuel to ignite the reaction.

When the baking soda gets hot, it makes carbon dioxide gas. The pressure from this gas pushes the carbonate from the burning sugar out, producing the snake reminiscent of popular intumescent fireworks.

This food-based chemistry experiment is not to be confused with the carbon snake, which uses concentrated sulfuric acid instead of baking soda. In either case, don't eat the resulting snake, and only touch it once it has cooled completely.

To make your own fire snake at home like in the video above, you'll need 10 grams of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate), 40 grams of sugar, and some type of fuel and a container to house the reaction in.

Then, instead of looking down, run around the forest until you hear the noise of a captured animal. Run back. pick up the animal, and it should be a snake. In the mountain areas of MGS3 (after you defeat "The End") you can interrogate a guard he will tell you a secret radio frequency that will cause his fellow troops to give cover fire. This doesn't exactly help snake but is still cool to see. The frequency is 147.90, it has to be in the mountain areas and you can only do it once.

If you save the game while in battle with "The End" and then reset your PS2 and go into the system setup menu and adjust the system clock for one week later, you will reload the game and snake sneaks up on "The End" to find out that he has died of old age!

When you steal Raikov's outfit in Groznyg Grad you hide Raikov's body in a locker room on the 2nd floor. Once you take his body in the room, a cut scene will start showing snake putting Raikov's body in a locker. If you look closely, you can quickly see a poster of Raiden from MGS2 on the inside of the door of the locker. This is the locker that contains the sneaking suit later.

Snakes are a healthy part of our ecosystem, but that doesn't mean you want them slithering around your campsite next to you, your loved ones, or your pets. For everyone's safety (including the snake's), it's best to have some basic reptile knowledge and implement a few protective strategies at your campsite. That way, everyone can coexist in peace.

Once you get to your campsite, scout the area and pick a site carefully. Avoid placing your tent near tall grasses, piles of leaves, rocks, and piles of wood, all of which make a great hideout for snakes. Some snakes are active at night, so if you're setting up after dark, use a headlamp or flashlight and be mindful of where you step.

Snakes have a varied diet, including insects, rodents, and birds. If you leave food out near the campsite and it attracts their usual prey, you can bet that snakes won't be far behind. Always make sure to store your food properly in airtight containers, locked coolers, or in the car with the windows rolled up. Before you leave, clean up any spills and remove your trash in a sealed plastic bag at designated disposal areas to protect future campers.

With their cold-blooded nature, snakes love cozy hideouts where they can warm-up, which could include your tent, sleeping bag, or shoes. While you're out and about, seal your tent shut with the zipper tabs towards the top of the tent, away from the ground. The higher up, the better, as a determined critter could still poke its head through an opening near the ground. Keep your shoes inside the tent or your car. Before you put your shoes on, it doesn't hurt to give them a good shake upside-down. While exploring the wilderness or gathering firewood, wear long pants and sturdy boots. Stay on the trails, and keep your fur babies on a leash.

If you spot a snake in your campsite or on a trail, don't panic. Keep a safe distance and don't pick it up. Same goes for hurting, taunting, or threatening it. Give the snake six feet of space, so it has a chance to get away from you. Remember, like most wild animals, snakes will not go out of their way to hurt you, but they will defend themselves if necessary. They often give a warning before they strike, like a hiss, coiling tightly, or lowering their head. The rattlesnake, for example, will shake its tail to create that hallmark rattle sound. If you hear it, back away. Notify other people in the area and alert a park ranger, who can safely remove the snake if necessary.

Even with precautions, sometimes accidents happen while camping. If someone gets bitten by a snake, call 911. Prevent the bite victim from moving around, as this could hasten the process of venom spreading around the body. Most snake bites occur on the hands, feet, and ankles, per the U.S. Forest Service, so keep those body parts lower than the heart. It's also best to abstain from any food or water until there's some medical intervention. Even if you can't see any symptoms of the snake bite, don't delay in getting medical support. When it comes to snakes, it's better to be safe than sorry. The peace of mind alone will be worth it. e24fc04721
