How To Download Nvidia Display Driver

Yesterday somehow came to me and checked the BIOS and monitor drivers, I will add that I have the same monitor model as you (Aorus FI27Q).

I updated the BIOS because I had a really old version. The monitor drivers were also outdated, I replaced them with the F08 version, I also updated the OSD Sidekick. I must add that the monitor update had to be done on the nvidia 517.48 drivers because all the others caused the problem with the detection of the monitor.

Reporting the same problem here. 3070 TI, same Aorus monitor connected via Display Port. Reverting to the September game ready drivers everything looks fine. Update to something new and it no longer detects the monitor resolution.

Thanks

I can confirm after having the same issue, with a RTX 2060 and 3 monitors FI27Q, updating the firmware from F03 to F08, and then updating the drivers again it were no longer an issue.

For the update to be possible you need to have an USB cable connected and only 1 monitor at the time when updating for it to be working correctly, takes about 5 min to update 1 monitor with new firmware.

At this point when when runing the VM it indicates that it is using microsoft display driver. Important to note that the T4 is currently visible to the VM as a device and the driver installed succesfully, confirming that the card is present considering that it does a compatibility check. MSIAfterburner sees the card but its graphs stay bottomed out no matter what GPU intensive application is running (or trying to run as well as they can using the basic driver anyhow).

At this point I dont know what else to try. If im not mistaken there shouldnt be any need to install drivers on the hypervisor itself as this is on passthrough mode and not vGPU. Any secrets to get GPU passthrough to work?

The Citrix Hypervisor has had no gpu drivers installed on it. I remember a few years back when using GRID vGPUs there was a need to install nvidia drivers on xenserver but I havent found documentation when the usage is GPU Passthrough. Is the assumption that GPU passthrough does not require drivers on the host hypervisor for it to work on the guest VM correct?

Do you have the licensing from NVIDIA installed on a license server and the service registered with your VM(s)? Are the drivers properly installed on your host? What do you get if you run nvidia-smi from the CLI on your XenServer/Citrix Hypervisor host? You won't be able to run it without properly installed and configured licensing.

For remote visualization environments the vGPU driver is required even in Pass-through mode and as such it requires a license. The only difference is that you only need to install the vGPU guest driver on the VM but you don't need to install anything on the hypervisor host

I've seen a couple of fixes and tried them but still unsuccessful in removing the said errors such as driver rollback, NVIDIA GeForce Experience(which doesnt show a thing - but the app runs and the interface is displayed, no data seen though) driver reinstall.

The update from 418 to 430 can be done smoothly with an option that is somewhat hidden. Open the main menu with the Super key, and search for "software and updates". The app should have several tabs, including "additional drivers". Go to that page, and you should see the following.

I just realized if you do it this way, e.g. install CUDA 10.2 first, which comes with the older 418 driver, then install a newer 430 video driver, the next autoremove will remove both CUDA and the older driver. If you try installing CUDA again using the .deb file, it will attempt to replace the 430 with 418 drivers! That is bad.

According to this thread on the nvidia forum, we can avoid the CUDA installer downgrading our display driver by using the local .run file, with the --toolkit option, and not the deb file installer. Also, after installing this way, there will be some missing libraries, which are described in section 7.3.1 here. In short:

The following table lists the NVIDIA software products affected, versions affected, and the updated version available from nvidia.com that includes this security update. Download the updates from the NVIDIA Driver Downloads page.

The AMD/NVIDIA video drivers can normally be uninstalled from the Windows Control panel, this driver uninstaller program was designed to be used in cases where the standard driver uninstall fails, or anyway when you need to thoroughly delete NVIDIA and ATI video card drivers. The current effect after you use this driver removal tool will be similar as if its the first time you install a new driver just like a fresh, clean install of Windows. As with any tool of this kind, we recommend creating a new system restore point before using it, so that you can revert your system at any time if you run into problems.

If you have a problem installing an older driver or newer one, give it a try as there are some reports that it fix those problems. DDU is an application that is programmed by Ghislain Harvey aka Wagnard in our forums, Guru3D.com is the official download partner for this handy application.

Yes, you can locate and download the driver through the Advanced Driver Search. When installing Standard Display Driver versions posted 12/6/19 or later, the driver installation will force a clean installation which will fully remove the previous DCH driver before the Standard driver is installed. Should you be attempting to install a Standard Display Driver version posted before 12/6/19, we recommend you manually uninstall the previous DCH driver before beginning the installation.

The NVIDIA Control Panel must be installed on the (C:) drive for NVIDIA DCH display driver installations. If you have made changes to the default location where new apps will be saved to from the Windows Settings, you may encounter an error when trying to open the NVIDIA Control Panel. To resolve this, choose one of the following workarounds:

Check out their support forum (the top thread especially, about the very latest drivers release, even if it's not your current version, is still interesting to check out as people mention problems going back several versions now).

Running nvidia-smi returns the following:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------+

| NVIDIA-SMI 512.15 Driver Version: 512.15 CUDA Version: 11.6

|-------------------------------------------------------------------------+

Before this I have already tried uninstalling all Nvidia software from this PC and reinstalling only this older version of CUDA and the up-to-date graphics drivers for my GPU, but it looks like this may be confusing something along the way.

For a few weeks, I have been using a new laptop without issue. Then a couple of days ago, I began getting this message after my screen went blank in the middle of some command. I saw similar posts in the EAP forum. I tried installing the newest driver and that resulted in spider web-like graphics displays so I rolled back a few versions. The original version was more than a few years old and had been working fine. So, the bottom line is that a newer, just not newest driver did not fix the problem.

If you have tried the latest driver I would recommend the suggestion made here:

 __wiki/4172:

This problem only occurs when MicroStation is using DirectX 11 (new with MicroStation V8i SELECTseries 3). DirectX 11 is automatically used on hardware that is capable of running it. However, the user can force MicroStation to use the older DirectX 9 interface by setting a MicroStation configuration variable. Setting QV_D3DVERSION to a value of 9 (in the environment variables of Windows) will force MicroStation to use the DirectX 9 interface, starting with the next execution of MicroStation. This will avoid TDRs, but can also update slower than when using DirectX 11, particularly on complex display styles such as Illustration.

TFS#129159 has been file on this issue as this is an issue Bentley has been in contact with NVidia.

Basically my game starts stuttering after running a few seconds (random frames take 70ms instead of 16ms, on a regularish pattern). This ONLY happens if a setting called "Threaded Optimization" is enabled in the Nvidia control panel (latest drivers, windows 10). Unfortunately this setting is enabled by default and I'd rather not have to have people tweak their settings to get an enjoyable experience.

Investigating these blocks of CPU time on the nvidia thread, the earliest named function I can get in their callstack is "CreateToolhelp32Snapshot" followed by a lot of time spent in Thread32Next. I noticed Thread32Next in the profiler when looking at CPU times earlier so this does seem like I'm on the right track.

The only bug in recent memory I can think of is that older versions of the nvidia driver caused applications w/ threaded optimization running in Wine to crash, but that's unrelated to the stuttering issue you describe. ff782bc1db
