I have just unearthed my lovely old Nano and it has some great music I uploaded from CDs etc and made some terrific playlists. This is not music I bought via iTunes. I don't want to lose the music or the playlists but it doesn't seem to be compatible with any import/export on Apple Music now. How do I get the music off my Nano and on to my MacBook so I can transfer the playlist to other hardware, please?

The sync process between the MacBook and the iPod nano is a one-way process, with data moving from the Mac to the iPod. At this time, we don't have a supported way of moving content from an iPod back to a computer; it would need to be imported again from the CDs or other media. If you have a backup of the data previously stored on your computer, you may be able to move the old iTunes library to your Mac that way. We have more information about syncing content here:

So if I understand correctly, I am paying every month a subscription for music service from apple, listening this music on my phone and my computer (both apple), but cannot hear the same song on an Ipod (also apple). I guess one has to be pretty twisted to have such ideas.

You need a device capable of connecting to the iCloud music library. iPod nano is not capable of doing this. The only way to add music is to purchase the music from iTunes Store or other online providers.

Hello, I am trying to download music onto my Ipod nano 3rd gen, but when I try it says I need to save it to my itunes or like buy it with icloud, im not really sure. Does anyone know how to download music onto your ipod nano?

But when I close the program and unmount the ipod (alternatively unmount/disconnect the ipod from within the program) the new music is not on it. If I reconnect the ipod to the computer and start one of the programs the new music has disappeared from the ipod.

You can do this with rythmbox. I use rythmbox to transfer music to my 3rd generation iPod nano. With rythmbox all you have to do is drag the music to your iPods icon and it will transfer the music. You can check if it has transferred if your iPod shows that it is syncing.

Spotify ond Android is perfect when in the car, at home i use my desktop PC. But when I am doing sports, I don't want to carry my giant smartphone with me. I always use to have my Ipod with me. For me, Spotify would be of no use, if I could not sync my playlists (of course those I have downloaded for offline use before) with my Ipod. I had to get/buy the music frome somewhere else and pay twice.

Nano's are very useful when cycling / running, which is when you have plenty of time to listen to some music. Please clarify whether Spotify will connect the Ipod nano to spotify, and if so when this is expected. If not, are Nano users encouraged to use Apple's music platform instead of Spotify ?

i found a solution for this, you have to dowload an older version of spotify for desktop and simply sync, with the older version you can easly sync your ipod nano 4th with your favourite spotify songs :3

Do you have an old iPod that's sitting around gathering dust? It might still have music you no longer possess in any other form. If that's the case, grab your old music player because you can transfer the music from your iPod to your computer.

To do so, you just need to consider your iPod as an external drive from which you can take music. Once extracted from the iPod, you can add music to your iTunes or Apple Music library and even sync it with your iPhone. We'll show you how below.

When you connect a device to iTunes or Finder, the music in your library automatically syncs to your device. You cannot download music from an iPod (or iPhone or iPad) into iTunes or Music. So, if you connect an iPod to your computer, the music on the device will be overwritten with what's in your iTunes or Music library.

Now, select all the folders in the iPod_Control > Music folder and copy and paste them to a location on your hard drive. This will transfer your music from your iPod to your computer. The files all have random four-letter file names.

If you're on a Windows PC, you can see the tags for each music file in File Explorer. If tags aren't visible, enable them by holding down Alt + Shift + P to bring up the details pane. Alternatively, you can select it from the View tab. Unfortunately, you can't see the tag information on a Mac.

After transferring the music from your iPod to your computer, you can start making adjustments. First, add the music from your iPod to your iTunes library on your Windows PC or Mac. Note that your music library appears in the Apple Music app since iTunes isn't available on macOS Catalina and newer versions.

To add some or all of the music from your iPod to your iTunes library, go to either File > Add File to Library or File > Add Folder to Library in iTunes for Windows. If you're using a Mac, go to File > Add to Library from the menu bar. Then, select the files or folder you want to add. You can also add music to iTunes by dragging music files from File Explorer or Finder to the iTunes window.

To transfer the added music to your iPhone, make sure iTunes or Finder is open and connect your device to your computer. Then, click the device icon in the iTunes toolbar or select your device from the Finder sidebar (on macOS Catalina and newer versions).

If your old iPod still charges enough to use, you can easily transfer music from that iPod to your computer with a little bit of time and effort. After all, we didn't have iCloud back in the iPod days for convenience.

Once the conversion finishes, you can click the "Converted" button on the left side to find the converted music. Now all of the songs from iTunes or Apple Music are free from DRM, you can use iTunes to sync these files to your iPod.

My computer isn't recognizing an iPod nano that I'm trying to add music to from my iTunes library. I've contacted iTunes and they have trouble shot all that they can. They told me that it's my computer that's the issue not iTunes. I contacted HP Chat Support and they referred me to HP Smartfriend. I called them with the case number I was given and they want me to pay them $50 to access my computer to find out what the problem is. I'm a stay at home mom who doesn't have $50 to throw away. What other options do I have to try and solve this problem?

This wikiHow teaches you how to copy music from an iPod to a Windows or Mac computer. You can use the free Sharepod program to move music of of virtually any iPod, or you can use iTunes and your computer's file explorer program to pull music off of older iPods.

The easiest way to download music directly to your iPod is to download it from Apple Music or the iTunes Store. Unlike FoneTool, this way requires an Apple Music subscription or the purchase of a single song or album to access the music files on your iPod. Although payment is involved, using Apple Music or the iTunes Store offers convenience because it allows you to add music to your iPod without using a computer.

Then I gave up and tried to connect to play music from my Samsung s7. (the device I have paired for the mobile app) still in the Bluetooth setting I try to find my phone. But Nothing comes up. I checked forums again only to see a number of other people with the similar issue. I have checked and rechecked the setting in my phones Bluetooth, started, stopped, restarted, forced stopped the app. Deleted all the other Bluetooth in the phone, re started, re paired the ionic and synced with the fitbit app., but it still can't find the phone in the ionic bloototh search. Please help. This is quite frustrating.

The Ionic will only play music from devices meant to be a speaker or very limited smart earbud only. It will not play music from a smartphone or smart speaker. It's just like an iPhone won't be able to stream music from the speakers on a Samsung phone.

So, I called the customer support team by phone. They were amazing, seemed there were a couple of setting in the Bluetooth section on my ionic (was set to off and I had to change it to pair before I saw the "ionic classic" appear in my phone's Bluetooth settings) than I had to make a music control setting from holding the main button on the left of the ionic for a few seconds to see the "..." on the bottom left. I touched it and was switch control to the phone. Thank you to the customer service person on the phone.

Among the incredible ways to enjoy music across a range of devices, including a wide variety of models from the new iPhone SE to the latest iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone is the best device for streaming Apple Music or storing an entire music library on the go. Apple Watch and AirPods are the perfect companion, allowing users to access over 90 million songs right from their wrist, starting at just $279 with Apple Watch SE. iPad starts at just $329, comes with a more powerful chip, larger display and the latest iPadOS features. And for the best way to enjoy music at home, HomePod mini is just $99.

When trying to sync Apple Music to iPod classic, nano, or shuffle, you'll probably get an error message saying "Apple Music cannot be copied to an iPod". In fact, many other iPod users are also facing the same problem as you do. Currently, only iPod touch supports downloading and streaming songs from Apple Music. If you are using an iPod nano or shuffle, or even the older iPod classic, you won't be able to play Apple Music within Apple iPod music player.
