Your company support needs to give you access to company resources

Your company is using Windows Information Protection policies to protect your device. Your company support will need to make sure they allow the Company Portal to access those resources.

I have a client using Office 365, MFA enabled. I configured all employee devices, mix of iphone and android phones, using the Outlook mobile app. One particular users device, Android phone, is telling me it needs Intune Company Portal installed on the device in order to sync. I cannot for the life of me figure what is causing this. None of the others did this. I force a PIN and device encryption so they get the general message about organization activation, but this one particular device is requiring intune app be installed. Typically I administer everything through MDM and don't use Intune. Have any of you ever run into this?

I too had this issue and after working with Intune Support I discovered that when App Protection policies are present in Intune 'endpoint.microsoft.com' Android users will be forced to install Company portal which will then look to see if any policies are assigned to the user. Even if the user is not assigned an app protection policy this is the behavior. I had to remove the app protection policy for Android to stop this from happening.

I ran into a similar scenario, but in my case I didn't intentionally turn on PIN requirements (but eventually I will), and only two Android users (so far) were required to install the Intune app in order to access Teams and company email within Microsoft Outlook. This all happend shortly after I upgraded most of my Office 365 E3 users to Microsoft 365 E3. I defintely wasn't ready to deploy Intune or new security requirements to my users, so this understandably confused and upset some users.

I've been unable to get Company portal to appear on self service. On the JAMF PRO Policy I selected Self Service as a trigger for the package and on Mac Apps I also added the Company Portal app form the Jamf App Catalog. So far I do not see the company portal appearing in the Self Service. Am I missing something? Is the documentation correct on only register from the Self Service app?

Thanks, I believe I have both. Are you saying the registration is automated once installed and does not require the user to launch company portal and logon? I had been manually launching in applications and registering manually until I saw the KBs above. They point to doing in self service but I'm missing the app in there. Right not I just have some office apps I provisioned under MAC Apps.

Looking at Self service in history I see Device Registration Policy installed 6/29 and Company portal installed 6/30 (Out of sequence). Should I be seeing an icon for company portal or registration in Self Service? Do notifications need to ne enabled? Says I need a proxy token if they do.

The thing you noticed for Install_Intune is so I can call the policy from terminal if I need to. Say I want to SSH a device and run sudo jamf policy -event isntall_intune it will run the policy on the spot. Its easier to remember something like Install_Intune than it is to remember a policy ID.

Some progress (then maybe a screw up). So I finally saw a device registration menu option appear and I clicked and it did launch company portal but I hit cancel because I wasn't logged in with the account I wanted to register. I got a message registration failed and the option disappeared. Normal behavior?

Yep, you canceled out of registration. If you get through registration and get that error, its really not fun. JAMF will want you on 10.37 to get a webconsole to troubleshoot intune. Microsoft has no idea comp portal on macOS works. Ya, not fun.

I am relatively new to Intune application deployment.


I have used the Intune exe to win32 tool to package .exe installers. This has worked fine for the most part.


I also have some applications which cannot be converted this way due to a complex install without any command-line arguments provided by the software vendors. So, I have been using a packaging tool in order to built .MSI's when needed.


I packaged a 2GB suite of applications into a single MSI, and attempted to deploy this via intune. 


Issue Encountered.


It simply won't install. I have checked the incoming folder and it's not there (but other test installs are). I have tried force closing the various process's intune uses to no avail. I have restarted my machine, still nothing.


I removed the application from being available on my device. This removed my ability to see the package within Intune, but I know it's still 'there' as my other test packages are stuck on pending and won't download.


To be clear, the problem package was on 'Installing' and had finished the 'downloading' portion already despite me being unable to find it in incoming.



How do I cancel this install so that I can continue to test other application packages that have been deployed? There is simply no simple way to do this that I can find.

I have company provided Samsung S20. I have successfully installed Microsoft's Intune Company Portal App.Then I was also able to register company portal. However after connecting to company portal, it suppose to download certificate from the company portal. But its not downloading any certificate or i dont see any notifications that it is downloaded.

Hello guys, I work with a company that requires a work profile to access corporate data. This as far as I understood cannot work on GrapheneOs because when you configure the company portal it will guide you to create a work profile signed with a cert obtained by you logging in with you work credentials. Company portal doesn't have the permission to create a new user /profile.

Even you manually create a new profile and then configure the company portal this installation will fail.

These are only instructions, please consider the cost of security and privacy by doing this. Also be aware that the company will not be able to manage the device (for some people a benefit) as the company portal will never be able to fully initialize.

Important note; the company portal well never be fully initialized - it may seem broken visually. However, the full initialization is not required for you to login in e.g. Teams by installing via Aurora store. So even though it seems company portal is broken, you can still use the apps you need.

randomchar42 As @burningfeelings said - no way around that. It's the same restriction that is enforced for the Google Pay app. Depending on your influence in the company, you may try to change the policy - but that really depends on what kind of company you work at...

burningfeelings Not sure I follow your response. You shouldn't create the work profile via the company portal. You create the work profile using Shelter, you copy the company portal app from your main profile to your work profile (you can also install it using aurora directly into your work profile). You install apps like Google Play + services + framework - as they are always requried using GrapheneOS apps. Only then, you start the company portal app from your work profile.

I get a corporate phone if I want to, but it is neat to have two SIMs in the same phone not to carry around two phones. Before I could separate everything with a separate user profile but now the company set up new policy to make usage of a work profile app mandatory. I think this is the most common explanation for why people want to use their private phone for work, not that the company demand it.

Hello I have problem with MS Intune Portal. I have fairphone 3+ I installed e-os latest version on it, but intune company portal can not register the device. While creating profile of the company I get message connection interrupted and process can not be finished. I red the App Unternehmensportal thread where there is same problem with no solution. Company support told me that FP has no suport for android business which is required for running MS intune company portal. Can you help what can be done? This is quite crutial for me. Thank you

Few days after I got myself a Murena FP4, my company decides to increase security through Company Portal app. My error sounds like what @strugk got. Did anyone have any luck in making it work on /e/OS?

There are ways to remove the company account without factory reset. Have you tried going into settings->accounts and removing the work profile that is being created by IntuneCP?

One of our system administrators is having issues with registering apple devices (macs) to Microsoft's InTune Compay Portal. The issue is when attempting to log into the Company Portal. The users attempt to log in and receives "Company Portal Temporarily Unavailable - The Company portal encountered a problem.". I have done all I can, I even proxy bypassed the users IP address and it worked.
