I'm relatively new to programming but I'm beginning work on a project that will be used in my day job. My end goal is to create a program that automatically downloads PDF's from a website once a month and puts them in specific directories on my PC. This is uncharted territory for me and so I'm trying to think through the steps.

The problem is, I don't know what the problem is. I do get a 200 response from their server, however, it is not the content I'm expecting. It's indeed a big HTML structure, but there are words like "access", "RequestURLDenied", "Password", "Help", "Sign in", which indicates my login attempt did not work properly. I don't know what to change though? Does someone have experience with scraping?

I just set up a canva website, purchased domain and all. How do I remove the password required to access the URL? I may have accidentally ticked password protection when I bought it, but I don't know how to undo it..

With more people storing personal information on their computers, it has never been more important to protect yourself from internet predators looking to gain access to your files. One of the many ways they can do this is by attacking your computer or trying to gather your information from an infected or malicious website you may visit, even if only once. The best thing you can do is to avoid malicious websites altogether.

You should also always be on the lookout for the clues and telltale hints that you are on a malicious website. After all, it is by smart people noticing something wrong and reporting it that the above tools can do their job.

When visiting a website that asks for sensitive information such as credit card numbers or your social security number, the first step you can take to securing your privacy is creating a strong password. Equally important is verifying that any information you enter on this site is transmitted and stored properly. Once your information is entered online, it is transmitted as plain text for anyone to intercept. To avoid this, make sure that the website is encrypted over a secure connection.

Be sure to click on the "lock" icon to verify that a website is trustworthy. Do not simply look for the icon and assume a website is secure! Your web browser will have detailed information on the website's authenticity if you click on the icon, so be sure to read this carefully before entering any of your information on the site.

I want to convert a webpage to pdf using the Adobe Acrobat DC "file > create > PDF from webpage" function. I need to download the entire website using the "capture multiple levels" function set to 5 (it will be a pretty massive PDF). The problem is that the website requires a login at the beginning to gain access to your acccount.

Since you've mentioned about the function levels, I think you're able to download an entire website using a tool like HTTrack, and possibly batch convert to PDF using javascript with Acrobat Distiller... But I am learning javascript so I may be completely off-track with this suggestion.

"Multiple levels" refers to how deep into a website the PDF conversion will go - i.e. Level 1 is the url I paste into the converter. Level 2 is all the linked urls on the level 1 url. Level 3 is all the linked urls on the level 2 url. etc...

This is a slide of showing the long and almost unresposnive process when you fetch a URL. I strongly recommend staying away from this option and download the website for off-line use in a separate process (Avoid using Acrobat for this or you won't be able to resolve your issue).

However, if you still prefer to fetch a large password protected website without the aid of HTML download tools , you may want to consider a javascript action or batch sequence which seems doable , in which case, and assuming that the secuirty enforced in that website also uses javasript, then you must contact the webmaster of such website and see if what you're trying to do is permissible to begin with.

All I have to do is to access the website (using my username and password), and load a second URL which directly downloads a .xlsx file to my computer (I also would like to move the file from Downloads folder to an specific folder or even download directly to the SharePoint).

My use case - I had to download the excel data from a password-protected website and then use that excel in the power bi, as this was a manual task of downloading the excel every time and updating the excel.

solution - with the help of power automate ( selenium ) - I recorded the whole process of logging in to the website and downloading the excel, but I did the whole process in a VM as scheduled to work as per the excel and power automate extraction time, and using FTP I transferred the file to the blob storage on azure and connected my power bi report.

I want to get data from a password protected website. I found this article but no one ever responded to it. Does anyone know if it is possible to connect to a password protected website from Power BI? If yes, how? Thanks!

Hi @v-jayw-msft thanks for your suggestion - do you mean connect via API in Power Query? This would mean I have to create a dynamic url, which prevents me from automated refreshing in Power BI Service. In the meantime, found out two other options to import data from password protected website:

You can only remove password protection from your online store after you pick a pricing plan. If you pick a plan while you are on a free trial, then you won't be charged any subscription fees until your free trial expires.

There are two ways to remove your online store password: from your Themes page or from the Preferences page under Online Store in your Shopify admin.

You can hide your site behind a password to prevent it from being publicly accessible. While your site is password-protected, visitors need to enter the password to open your site. This can be helpful if your site is under construction or if only certain people should access it.

If you're hiding your site after it's already been set to Public, setting a password prevents search engines from indexing it further. This means that search engines may have already indexed your site before you added the password, and your content could appear in search results.

Chrome and other browsers use Safe Browsing to show users a warning message before they visit a dangerous site or download a harmful app. Our scanning infrastructure also protects the Chrome Web Store from potentially harmful extensions. Learn more

Google and Android security teams collaborated to develop an app scanning infrastructure that protects Google Play and powers Verify Apps to protect users who install apps from outside Google Play. Since 2005, Safe Browsing has protected users across the web from Social Engineering attacks. A Social Engineering attack tricks users into performing an action that they normally would not if they knew the true identity of the attacker. A common example is Phishing, where a page tries to steal a user's password or other personal data.

These websites are highly unlikely to get repeat visitors. However, some sites use these tactics to protect text and images. The biggest reason to use these protections is to stop fraudsters and plagiarists.

Chrome Reading Mode is one of the other methods of copying protected content from websites. Using Reader Mode, you can reduce web page structure by getting rid of ads, sidebars, and other unnecessary stuff.

Optical text recognition is a machine-learning method that detects text inside pictures. With OCR, you can turn an image into text. With this strategy, you can extract text from scanned documents, images, or screenshots.

OCR2edit.com is another OCR tool similar to NewOCR. You can easily convert from JPG, PNG, TIF, WEBP, and more. Once the text areas are identified, this OCR tool analyzes the pixels within those regions and goes to identify separate characters and words.

You can use Firefox Reader View for a clutter-free reading experience. I especially like it for reading long articles and blog posts. AND can copy text from restricted websites with it.

You can access the content by opening it in any browser that works. This is not a 100% guaranteed method, but you should try it because there are too many software and tools for blocking copy text, and those approaches vary from process to process.

The site is secure.

Website security can be a complex (or even confusing) topic in an ever-evolving landscape. This guide is meant to provide a clear framework for website owners seeking to mitigate risk and apply security principles to their web properties.

By applying a systematic approach to website security, we can think of it as an onion, with many layers of defense all coming together to form one piece. We need to view website security holistically and approach it with a defense in depth strategy.

Website security refers to the measures taken to secure a website from cyberattacks. That may include protecting a website from hackers, malware, scams or phishing, and errors. In this sense, website security is an ongoing process and an essential part of managing a website. Maintaining a secure website is critical to protecting your website visitors and users from attacks, data theft, and bad actors. e24fc04721
