I had about 10 movies on my iPad - mostly digital copies of movies I'd purchased. Now they are in the cloud and I can't access them on a plane or locations without wi-fi access. Not sure what I did, but I'd prefer to simply have them back on my iPad so I can watch them whenever I want, with or without wi-fi.

Just download the movie and watch it. What else is there to know? If you purchase a movie from iTunes, you can watch it in Airplane Mode, with WiFi turned off, with Wifi turned on .... You can watch it anywhere.

How Do I Download Movies To My Ipad To Watch On A Plane

Of course, you don't say if this is a rental or a purchase, but I can tell you that purchased movies work just fine in Airplane mode during a flight. Once they are fully downloaded to the iPad, you can watch them anywhere without the need for WiFi.

Make sure to pick a source that is legal and offers movies you actually want to watch. Purchased movies, rentals, and subscription services provide reliable quality and availability compared to free online streaming sites.

The length of the transfer depends on the number and size of movies chosen. When completed, safely eject the iPad from the computer. The movies are now available for offline viewing through the TV app while traveling!

Anyone have any ideas why I can no longer watch the free movies on an iPad? I can watch the live tv and series, but when I click the link for the movies, nothing happens. It works on my iPhone, but cannot get the movies to work on the iPad.

We are tracking an issue in iOS and iPad OS 17.2+ that created a black screen and the inability to watch movies in the portal on a portion of our fleet. A temporary fix is rolling out to all aircraft early next week that will start the movie in the browser and require you to manually open to full screen until a more elegant solution can be implemented.

As a reminder, no additional apps are needed to watch movies on Southwest flights--just your supported device and browser! We made that change in 2020 to make Inflight Entertainment more accessible to everyone.

I'm sorry to hear you're still having trouble. We aren't tracking any issues at the moment. Given that other video on demand functions are working, and that you can watch on your iPhone, it seems to be a device level issue.

So, I have an app (other than My Cloud) that lets me watch videos at home from network source or stored on my iPad. My favorite app for this is called File Browser (aka FB), but there are other apps out there for doing this, too.

Anyone who has an iPad or iPhone and uses it for this purpose ought to have FB installed. It is an excellent and feature-packed app that is upgraded frequently (ex: it can now cast media to Chromecast)

OK, before I tell you my good news for me (and likely you, too) I just wanted to reply to above comment: I believe you meant to write Handbrake rather than handshake (for those folks reading this, too.)

OK, here we go with the good news. I had success and discovered where I messed up, too. I also learned some things, which is always good. First thing I learned is that we can download our mp4 type videos from our NAS or anywhere on our network, and watch them on airplane on our iPad. So, now not sure why you could not do it. Maybe, like me, when I tried, you made a mistake or two as well.

I find video folder I want to download from, and tap the 3-dot menu near top and choose Select from drop down menu and a check box appears next to all videos. I tap the check box next to video I want to download to put a check in the box, and another menu appears, so select Download. This video will start downloading, and a tiny moving arrow appears on video thumbnail.

Video is there, so . . . To assure video will play in Airplane Mode, completely shut down My Cloud app and test when Wi-Fi is off or when Airplane Mode is engaged . Go to iPad Settings and remove iPad from Wi-Fi Open My Cloud app, and message says only stored content is available. Go into Downloads again, find video and play it! Success, it plays with no Wi-Fi signal needed!

Looks pretty much like what I carry on. I would add noise cancelling headphones and/or ear buds. And maybe ear plugs. Definitely carry on essential medications and your car and house keys. You don't want those things to end up in lost luggage!

you will be able to charge your devices on the plane, so no worries there. I also bring my own earphones for in-flight movies, although they will hand those out for free (mine just have better sound, etc).

I like to have a water bottle, filled after I pass through security. If I'm on an overnight flight that leaves late, I either eat at the airport or take my own food on the plane so I can eat right away and have a chance to start napping sooner. I struggle to get any sleep on the plane no matter what I do, but eating 90 minutes after boarding definitely doesn't help. I stay off electronic devices during overnight flights for the same reason.

I also bring a small notebook and pen so I can write down anything that comes to mind about my trip. And I would suggest bringing some lip balm and hand lotion or lotion bar, as the air can be somewhat dry up there.

Maybe some gum too, to relieve your ears during the ascent. And most flights give out little overnight pouches with an eye mask, and a small toothbrush, toothpaste and floss for the next morning but it wouldn't hurt to have your own, just in case.

I would still bring your own chargers -- I've been on more than one plane where the charger was finicky (you had to insert the cable or the charger just so or it wouldn't charge) or it straight up didn't work. I'm also a fervent earplug person and would definitely travel with those (even though full-service airlines also usually distribute those on overnight long-haul flights as well).

Congrats on your first overseas trip. Your airline should list whether you have access to an actual power outlet near your seat. Generally it is a USA style plug, but it would be wise to pack a euro adapter just in case. A USB plug in (goes into the in-flight entertainment screen) is also usually available and as noted doesn't always work fantastic. Make sure to put your devices in airplane mode to conserve battery (my phone searches for wifi and drains very fast if I don't do this). Also make sure you bring a decent length charging cord (not a 12 inch one).

On my recent long flight I prioritized napping/sleeping and I had minimal jet lag on arrival. On my entire 17 day trip I didn't read any of the e-books I downloaded or watch any of the shows I downloaded - simply too busy. Next trip I won't bother. I also didn't watch any of the airline provided entertainment except for the flight tracker, but most airlines offer hundreds of movies, t.v. shows, music, and even games.

My in-flight kit is similar to travel4fun except I also include my p.m. and a.m. medications, a pair of rubber soled slippers or sandals to wear in flight (my feet swell, so also wear compression socks), and a N-95 mask to mitigate germs. I do recommend wiping off all your seat surfaces with a Clorox wipe before you settle in (including the seat arms, flight entertainment screen, and tray table). On both of my recent long haul flights, the seat pocket still had trash from the prior seat occupant, so gross.

I would still bring your own chargers -- I've been on more than one plane where the charger was finicky (you had to insert the cable or the charger just so or it wouldn't charge) or it straight up didn't work.

I agree. Also many planes still just have a USB-A ports and many devices now require USB-C. You can bring an adaptor, of course, but much better to just bring your normal chargers and plugs. A powerbank wouldn't hurt either.

I'm voting with the folks who say that even if your seat has a power plug or USB it may or may not work. I do carry a power bank so I can charge my watch and make sure my phone is topped up before we land. It will also keep my iPad Mini charged during the flight.

I DO take an iPad Mini with a jillion books in my Kindle app. I am one that reads every day so it's invaluable to me. I don't even carry a regular book any more. With the power bank I don't run out of juice especially if my iPad Mini is near 100% when I board.

I also used the TimeShifter app on my trip in August starting from Spokane WA and ending in Aberdeen Scotland and had no jet lag if that is a concern for you. According to the app, which is based on NASA research, adjusting your circadian rhythm is based solely on exposure to daylight - so the app tells you when to get daylight and when to avoid it for the best adjustment to your new time zone.

In economy I've never received a bag with anything (they do give those out in business class though). I suggest bringing an eye mask in case you want to nap or rest. I have an older wired pair of noise-cancelling earbuds that I like. They make it thru a flight of 10-12 hours while I think the more modern wireless ones only last 6 hours or so. As an alternative you might want to consider a better pair of earplugs such as recommended in -earplugs-for-sleeping/

For the neck pillow, if it's an inflatable one then ok but if it's one of the stuffed ones then you really might want to think about if it's worth dragging that around with you thru the rest of your time in Europe. 152ee80cbc
