Description
Keala Harris, a Girl Scout of 13 years based in Stoughton MA, worked to create a cookbook for her local food pantries for her Girl Scout Gold Award. However, this cookbook is not your regular cookbook. This cookbook was created for the common foods found in the food pantry that many people did not know how to use in meals. This is where the idea of "How Do I Cook This?" came about. Keala spent many months researching different ways of cooking and different recipes that would benefit her community's food pantry users. She also had the cookbook translated into both Haitian Creole and Portuguese to allow for more access. Keala raised funds to print a total of 80 copies of the cookbook to be distributed to the users of the local food pantry users. She hoped that with the patrons having a new knowledge of how to cook different foods that it would encourage more of the items to be taken, therefore reducing the waste that the food pantry creates. This website contains the digital copies of the books for easy access at all times!
