David is a trailblazer in regenerative leadership, merging his experience in ethical infrastructure, community development, and technology to foster growth across ecosystems. Over the past four decades, David has co-founded and coached hundreds of regenerative businesses, from start-ups to large-scale community projects, inspiring leaders and reshaping industries.
Burning Man and Global Festivals: Pioneering Regenerative Innovation
David’s involvement with Burning Man spans two decades, where he contributed to iconic projects like Burners Without Borders, Media Mecca, Black Rock Solar, Feed The Artists, Zendo, Basura Sagrada, Tasseograph Teahouse, Temple of Peace, Temple of Whollyness, and many other structures including art cars (mutant vehicles) Solaris —one of the early solar-powered vehicles at the festival—and the design and construction of the iconic dragon Abraxas, a symbol of creativity and participatory design both on and off playa. He pioneered eco-friendly infrastructure, such as portable toilets using effective microorganisms and recycled water shower systems and shipping container portable kitchen conversions that set a standard at Burning Man.
Beyond Burning Man, David has played a key role collaborating in bringing regenerative practices to the major music festivals including; Lollapaloosa, Bonnaroo, Lightning in a Bottle, Rothbury Electric Forest and regional festivals like Chicago’s Looptopia, helping to grow that event from 30,000 to over 250,000 attendees while integrating regenerative and participatory practices. These are just handfull of the experiences that shaped his commitment to merging art, technology, and regenerative leadership.
Regenerative Infrastructure
David is known for his work in renewable energy, off-grid living, and regenerative infrastructure. He been building a network of off-grid hubs, including a flagship project in the Cascadia bioregion, where he leads efforts in old-growth forest restoration and land stewardship. His approach is rooted in bioregionalism, advocating for place-based leadership that aligns with local ecosystems.
He develops ethical digital infrastructure to ensure technologies like regenerative AI enhance leadership circles and promote ecological balance. His recent focus on regenerative land projects includes a $100 million land development fund in New York’s Hudson Valley.
Leadership Circles: Growing Regenerative Communities
David co-founded Treehouse.coach, where he trains regeneratively-minded, AI-enabled leaders. His pioneering work in regenerative leadership circles redefines leadership as a collaborative, life-affirming practice. These circles, built on circle farming, focus on growing investor, advisor, partner, and co-founder ecosystems to nurture regenerative businesses.
David has coached leaders through Treehouse’s Leadership Circles, helping them align with regenerative principles to build flourishing organizations. His approach emphasizes dialogue, shared goals, and community resilience, creating ecologies that meet business objectives while enhancing community and environmental well-being.
Bridging Indigenous Wisdom and Technology
David is a student of the intersection between indigenous wisdom and AI technology. He seeks partnerships with centers of excellence like Bard College, UC Davis, and North Carolina State University to explore ethical AI that integrates indigenous knowledge. His vision is to create regenerative AI systems that foster flourishing ecosystems and ethical leadership.
Entrepreneurship and Impact
David has co-founded 35 startups and helped develop nearly 1,000 businesses. His work spans industries from renewable energy to sustainable design, with a focus on regenerative economics—building businesses that generate positive environmental and social impact. He works closely with family offices, guiding wealth transfer toward regenerative initiatives and long-term flourishing.
Through climate action, disaster relief, and leadership development, David continues to push the boundaries of regenerative business. His work has left lasting impacts on bioregions and communities, creating regenerative growth models that are being replicated globally.
