About Laura

My training philosophy is slow and steady, setting horses up for success in the long-term no matter what direction they will go.    I start colts with patience, understanding and leadership.  Every horse is different, much like students at school, and  all  will develop at their own pace.  Please take this into account when sending your horse to a professional trainer.

I have owned horses my entire life and have many years' experience starting colts, starting older horses, fixing problems and finishing horses in a variety of disciplines.  I also compete casually in barrel racing and cowhorse events, including versatility ranch horse, reined cowhorse and team penning.  In 2004, I adopted and gentled my first wild horse from the Bureau of Land Management.  I've been involved with mustangs ever since.  In 2016, I was a finalist in my first Extreme Mustang Makeover.  Trainers had 100 days to tame and train an untouchable wild horse.  You can watch videos of "Rooster" and read about our progress on my blog, here.  If you are interested in adopting a wild horse, please visit my Adopt a Mustang page
