Short Bio


Sara Horcas-Rufián is a Teaching Associate in Translation Studies (with Spanish) at Aston University (United Kingdom) and a PhD Researcher in Translation at the International Postgraduate School of the University of Granada (UGR). Sara studied Translation and Interpreting in Granada (Spain) where she also earned her Master of Arts (2012). Resuming her education at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), she earned a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) in Computer-Assisted Translation and Translation Project Management in 2016. She has worked as a professional translator since 2011. At present, she is a member of the Avanti research group (Avances en Traducción e Interpretación, HUM-763) at the UGR. Sara earned a Master's degree in Teacher Education from the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) in 2013 and has taught Spanish and Translation Studies at different institutions (Kazan Federal University, University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Universidad de Granada) both at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Her fields of interest are translation directionality, translation and interpreting teaching and learning, and translation teachers' competencies development.
