• HOPE YOU READY Roof Rack Cross: Its biggest strength is its specialized fit for Kia Soul models (2014–2019) that lack side rails, offering a clean look and easy removal. This pick is for the owner of a 2014–2019 Kia Soul who needs to transport light-to-moderate cargo like luggage or a roof bag but doesn't plan to haul heavy kayaks or bikes regularly.
• The trade-off is that it is strictly compatible only with Toyota RAV4 models (2013–2018) equipped with side rails, limiting its utility to that specific vehicle platform. This pick is for the RAV4 owner who intends to tow gear, carry multiple sports items, or haul heavy equipment like a canoe or large roof box without compromising fuel efficiency due to drag.
The HOPE YOU READY Roof Rack Cross is built for a very specific scenario: the owner of a Kia Soul from the 2014 through 2019 model years who has a roof with no existing side rails. Many compact SUVs come with flush roofs or raised rails that require completely different mounting systems. If your vehicle lacks those side rails, this bar system is designed to clamp directly onto the roof structure itself, providing a stable platform where none existed before. The manufacturer explicitly states that it will not fit raised rails or flush rails, which means it is a precision tool for a precise problem. You cannot simply buy this for any car; it must be your exact make, model, and year range to ensure the clamping mechanism sits correctly.
In terms of construction, this rack utilizes high-quality aluminum alloy. That weight limit is a critical consideration for anyone planning to tow or carry heavy loads. The design includes an anti-theft lock key, which adds a layer of security when you leave your vehicle unattended at a trailhead or airport. However, the primary value proposition here is the ability to create storage space on a vehicle that otherwise has none, allowing you to carry roof bags, sporting goods, or luggage without worrying about interior clutter.
This product is best suited for the urban commuter or weekend traveler who prioritizes ease of installation and removal over maximum hauling power. The instructions emphasize that no drilling or cutting is required, which appeals to drivers who do not want to permanently alter their vehicle's roof. The bars can be easily installed and removed, meaning you can take them off when you aren't using them to keep the car looking sleek and aerodynamic during daily driving. If you are someone who occasionally takes a family road trip, needs to transport a bike rack, or just wants extra room for groceries and camping gear, this rack delivers exactly what it promises. It is a solid, reliable solution for moderate loads on a specific compact SUV platform.

Unlike the HOPE YOU READY option, this system is not designed for vehicles without rails; it relies on the existing side rails of the RAV4 for stability. This double the weight limit of the HOPE YOU READY bar, opening up possibilities for heavier cargo that would be unsafe or impossible to carry on the lighter alternative. Whether you are transporting a large roof box filled with winter gear, a tandem kayak, or a heavy-duty bike carrier loaded with multiple bicycles, the JOYTUTUS system is built to handle the stress.
Durability is another major selling point for this unit. The product information highlights that the crossbars have undergone numerous crash tests, wear simulations, and exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, sunlight, and harsh chemicals. This suggests a build quality intended to withstand the rigors of long-term outdoor use, not just occasional city trips. The construction features sturdy adjustable bolts and a lockable anti-theft mechanism, ensuring that your investment remains secure regardless of where you park. The base feet are covered with rubber pads, which serve a dual purpose: they prevent scratches on your vehicle's paint and ensure a tight, gap-free fit against the side rails. This attention to detail protects both your car and the rack from vibration damage while driving.
Perhaps the most practical feature for daily driving is the aerodynamic profile designed to reduce wind noise. At highway speeds, roof racks often become a source of whistling and droning sounds that can ruin a road trip. The JOYTUTUS bars are shaped to cut through the air efficiently, reducing resistance even under 75 mph conditions. This makes the experience of driving with a full load much quieter and more comfortable. Additionally, the design ensures that normal skylight opening is not impeded, which is a crucial functional detail for sunroof-equipped models. However, buyers should note a specific warning: installing this rack on a car with a moon roof may affect the opening and use of that roof panel. If you rely on your sunroof, you must verify compatibility carefully. This rack is the clear choice for the RAV4 owner who treats their vehicle as a true adventure platform, capable of handling heavy, bulky, and noisy loads without sacrificing safety or comfort.
Its aerodynamic profile is specifically tested to reduce wind resistance at highway speeds, whereas the HOPE YOU READY focuses on basic structural integrity.
• Best for Specific Vehicle Fitment: Neither is universal. HOPE YOU READY fits only Kia Soul (2014–2019) without side rails, while JOYTUTUS fits only Toyota RAV4 (2013–2018) with side rails. You must match your vehicle first.
• Best for Easy Installation: Both claim no-drill installation, but the JOYTUTUS emphasizes clamping designs with included hardware for side rails, while HOPE YOU READY focuses on direct roof mounting for rail-less vehicles.
• Best for Weight Savings: HOPE YOU READY is likely lighter overall due to its smaller dimensions and lower load rating, making it easier to lift and remove if you frequently swap it on and off.
• Best for Durability Testing: JOYTUTUS explicitly lists extensive testing including crash simulations, extreme heat, and chemical exposure, suggesting a rugged build for harsh environments.
• Best for Budget-Conscious Buyers: While prices fluctuate, the simpler design and lower capacity of the HOPE YOU READY often correlate with a lower entry cost, but you should check the current price on Amazon for the actual deal.
• Best for Sunroof Compatibility: Check your manual carefully; JOYTUTUS warns that moon roofs may be affected, so if you drive a RAV4 with a sunroof, verify clearance before buying.
Ultimately, the decision comes down to your vehicle and how heavy your cargo is; for serious hauling, the heavier-duty JOYTUTUS is the superior engineering choice.
The HOPE YOU READY documentation does not mention moon roof interference but notes it is not for raised or flush rails, so verify your roof type before purchasing either.
No, neither product requires drilling or cutting. The HOPE YOU READY bars install without drilling on the specific Kia Soul models, and the JOYTUTUS bars use a clamping design with attached mounting hardware for Toyota RAV4 side rails. Always read the manual to ensure proper alignment before tightening.
Exceeding these limits can compromise the structural integrity of the bars and pose a safety risk while driving.
The HOPE YOU READY does not advertise specific wind-noise reduction features, focusing instead on basic load-bearing capacity and fitment.
