Minimum Requirements:
At least 18 years of age
Activity Director State Approved Training Course Completion
2 years experience in Activities Directing
Able to travel internationally
Valid driver's license
Valid passport
CPR Certification (within 6 months of employment)
First Aid / AED Certification (within 6 months of employment)
30 hour OSHA General Industry Safety and Health Training
Able to lift 50 pounds
Preferred Qualifications:
Hold a national certification from one of the following recognized bodies: APNCC, NCCAP, NCTRC, or the NPRA
Bachelors Degree in Social Psychology, Recreation and Leisure, Performing or Fine Arts, Exercise Science or Kinesiology, Hospitality and Tourism, Communication, or Philosophy
2 years experience in Recreational Therapy, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Drama Therapy, BiblioTherapy, or PlayTherapy
Language Fluency in Chinese, Spanish, and/or French
Photography Skills / Social Media Skills
Job Responsibilities:
complete 16 hours of continuing education each year
determine a resident's family supports and personal preferences relative to care needs and assist in completing the Resident Needs Assessment
provide therapeutic activities appropriate to the needs of the individual residents (at least once a week)
Report suspected side effects and adverse reactions to medications observed during facilitated activities to the to Supervising Director of Care immediately.
adapt the activities, as necessary, to encourage the participation of the residents.
Arrange transportation plan for residents for shopping, recreation, rehabilitation and medical services
inspect the residents' private living spaces periodically and as needed to ensure that the space does not pose a health hazard for self recreation
ensure rooms are supplied with preferred items for recreation and engagement
establish and maintain volunteers following protocol
Identify, document, intake or deny visitors according to resident wishes and facility policy.
Create and deliver monthly calendar and daily itinerary
Plans, develops, and produces all creative assets for advertising campaigns. Establishes local community partnerships and co-promotional opportunities, operating under the strategic direction of the Regional Director.
Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies. Coordinate and lead volunteer orientation and training programs. Evaluate and report on the success of volunteer programs and initiatives. Maintain accurate records related to volunteer participation, hours, and volunteer expenses.
Generate Activities Department profit and loss statement
Align activities with resident needs, departmental goals, and the recreational needs of the community
track important dates and execute staff and resident appreciation events with consideration to personal preferences
