The retronymic inclusion of subtitles brought the film into line with the introduction to its sequel, The Empire Strikes Back, which was reconceived during rewrites as "Episode V" and eventually released as such in 1980.[243][244] Lucas claims this was intended from the beginning, and was only dropped to avoid confusing audiences: "Star Wars was the fourth story in the saga and was to have been called 'Star Wars, Episode Four: A New Hope'."[245] In 2014, Kurtz recalled they had toyed with the idea "of calling it Episode III, IV, or V."[246][g] Hamill recalls having asked Lucas "Why are we doing episode four?" and being answered that Lucas wanted "to give the audience a feeling that they'd missed something and that they were coming into the middle of this story"[250] or that it was "the most commercial section" of the overriding story.[88] Kaminski, however, points out that all early drafts carry an "Episode One" subtitle, and that even early drafts of the sequel are called "Episode II".[88]

Star Wars and its ensuing film installments have been explicitly referenced and satirized across a wide range of media. Hardware Wars, released in 1978, was one of the first fan films to parody Star Wars.[297] It received positive critical reaction, went to earn over $1 million, and is one of Lucas's favorite Star Wars spoofs.[298][299][300] Writing for The New York Times, Frank DeCaro said, "Star Wars littered pop culture of the late 1970s with a galaxy of space junk."[301] He cited Quark (a short-lived 1977 sitcom that parodies the science fiction genre)[301] and Donny & Marie (a 1970s variety show that produced a 10-minute musical adaptation of Star Wars guest starring Daniels and Mayhew)[302] as "television's two most infamous examples."[301] Mel Brooks's Spaceballs, a satirical comic science-fiction parody, was released in 1987 to mixed reviews.[303] Lucas permitted Brooks to make a spoof of the film under "one incredibly big restriction: no action figures."[304] In the 1990s and 2000s, animated comedy TV series Family Guy,[305] Robot Chicken,[306] and The Simpsons[307] have produced episodes satirizing the film series. A Nerdist article published in 2021 argues that "Star Wars is the most influential film of all time" partly on the basis that "if all copies ... suddenly vanished, we could more or less recreate the film ... using other media," including parodies.[308]

Some critics have blamed Star Wars, as well as Jaws, for ruining Hollywood by shifting its focus from "sophisticated" films such as The Godfather, Taxi Driver, and Annie Hall to films about spectacle and juvenile fantasy.[320] On a late 1977 episode of Sneak Previews, Siskel expressed concern that, "It's so successful and so mindless fun that I hope Hollywood doesn't forget that there are people who like to see serious pictures too."[321] Another critic, Peter Biskind, later complained, "When all was said and done, Lucas and Spielberg returned the 1970s audience, grown sophisticated on a diet of European and New Hollywood films, to the simplicities of the pre-1960s Golden Age of movies... They marched backward through the looking-glass."[320][174] In an opposing view, Tom Shone wrote that through Star Wars and Jaws, Lucas and Spielberg "didn't betray cinema at all: they plugged it back into the grid, returning the medium to its roots as a carnival sideshow, a magic act, one big special effect", which was "a kind of rebirth."[316]

After arguing and going their separate ways for a while, the droids are individually picked up by Jawa traders and brought aboard a Sandcrawler. They are later bought by moisture farmer Owen Lars and his nephew, Luke Skywalker, a young farmer who lost his parents as a baby and hopes to one day be a starfighter pilot just like his friends. While cleaning R2, Luke discovers the hologram, at the mention of Obi Wan, he wonders if she means his neighbor Ben Kenobi.

While eating dinner with Owen and his Aunt Beru, Owen asks Luke to take R2 to Anchorhead the next day to have his memory wiped, and expresses his hope Luke will stay with them for one more harvest season before sending his application to the Academy. R2 escapes from the Lars' homestead in search of Obi-Wan, whom the droid claims to be the property of. Luke and C-3PO search the desert and find R2 the next day, only to be attacked by Sand people. Luke and his droids are rescued by Ben Kenobi, who confirms he is Obi-Wan.

It is the Summer finale for Saving Hope and CTV has yet to announce when the remaining 9 episodes will air. While I am not in love with this show, I do love Erica Durance and I hope that there is a third season of the show so I can see more of her on our TV screens.

As the episode opens, we see Charlie and Alex in bed, it looks like they are in the hospital and post-coital, they declare their love but Alex tells Charlie that he seems distant but then Charlie becomes Joel and Alex wakes up.

..just rewatched some episodes and researched the diagnosis of Jenna- it was Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome (SADS), a genetic heart condition, that can lead to sudden death of apparently healthy (young) people under 40; there may be warn signs like fainting or shortness of breath during exercise or excitement..

The sitcom \"Black-ish\" tackled a more serious issue on its episode \"Hope\" last night -- police brutality. And pundits from sites like the Washington Post and Entertainment Weekly have applauded how the show stayed true to its brand of humor while tackling race relations in America.

\"'Hope,' which takes place entirely in the Johnson house, is exactly the type of multigenerational conversation that has made previous episodes of 'Blackish,' now in its second season, stand out amid the current sitcom line-up,\" writes Post scribe Bethonie Butler.

The episode centers around the youngest twins, Jack and Diane, and how their parents discuss and explain police brutality to them. The dad, Andre, played by Anthony Anderson, and the mom, played by Tracee Ellis Ross, along with their parents, all have different views on how to address race relations, as they watch a fake indictment case. Andre shares what he thinks is a realistic view on the world, while Rainbow wants to inspire hope in her young ones.

Welcome to the final season of Bones reviews! If you're just tuning in, you can find my previous reviews, for all episodes from season 6 through 11, at the bottom of this post. And if you're a regular reader, you know the drill: I summarize and critique the forensics in each episode the way only a real anthropologist (and unapologetic Bones fan) can - with quite a bit of snark but also a deep appreciation for 12 years of a show that stars a strong female scientist.

Angela checks out the computer that Zack used at the library when he would sneak out. He apparently left files on it, including an untitled one with email he had written and signed Dr. Alexander Bancroft. This doctor supposedly created a new protocol to help paralyzed people walk again, and Hodgins was seeing success with it. Angela realizes that Zack completely made it up to give Hodgins hope.

Zack is cleared of the puppeteer serial killings, but is still being held because of the killing of the lobbyist years prior. Booth doesn't think he did it, though, and concurs with Zack that the evidence should be reexamined. We can only hope that this means that Zack is back for the season, with a nice tidy resolution to that murder to come!

I continue to be stupid excited that Zack is back, and that he might potentially be cleared of all charges eventually. But while the forensics in the episode were fine, the plot this week left me with so many questions about how bad the forensics team and the FBI are at their jobs that I got distracted often. I give The Hope in the Horror a B+ .

These stories sound so familar especially with the use of taking slaves for a much higher purpose, I really hope telltale does something similar as the aesthetic and everything was great! Especially the ending choices where you could side with the slaves (Could be boarding school) or side with the slavers (Lilly perhaps) and it was actually a tough decision. (It was also over a child which could most likely be AJ)

Lucas originally planned for a six-part epic that would chronicle the fall of the Jedi Council and the hard-fought Clone Wars. Its conclusion would have been the plot of A New Hope, as it would be revealed that the 1977 epic was merely an epilogue. However, as history has shown, this didn't go according to plan once Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace hit theaters. In fact, what ended up being the prequels were also a part of the four drafts Lucas had written for Star Wars in the hope that he would be able to craft the perfect singular story. As he recounts in Empire of Dreams, Lucas gave up a considerable amount of financial compensation -- which he was entitled to after the huge success of his 1973 film American Graffiti -- in exchange for retaining the creative rights to the property. This decision would allow him to return to the outline and finish the story the way he wanted, using the other chapters he had developed in his early drafts. e24fc04721
