Harvey was drafted in 1942, and originally trained with a tank destroyer unit before being transferred to the Signal Corps. As a member of the 101st signal corps battalion, Harvey served in Europe for 2 years, making it from France to Austria. Most of the photos in the display below were taken with a captured German camera, which can be seen in a few shots. In a letter home, Harvey described seeing “Nazi prison camps where Yanks and Tommies were used for fuel for the camps.”
