I'm Hongwei Tan, a Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (MPIP) in Mainz, Germany.
I received my Bachelor's Degree in Physics from Nankai University in 2011 and my PhD in Material Physics and Chemistry from the Chinese Academy of Science in 2016. My thesis was on designing and implementing photomemristor, a novel integrated neuromorphic optoelectronic device.
Following my PhD, I joined the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Amherst in the US and Aalto University in Finland for postdoc research, working on optogenetic devices and neuromorphic perception networks. In 2022, I was promoted as a Research Fellow at Aalto University.
My current research focuses on Neuromorphic Hybrid Electronics, aiming to push the boundaries of intelligent sensing and biointerfacing.
