Ida Carolyn Anderson
The untimely death of our much loved young matron, Miss Ida Carolyn Anderson, on March 24, 1919, came as a great personal loss to each one of us at the Sheyenne River Academy. For eight years she has been connected with our school as a student and matron, and in that time she has made for herself a place that no other can fill. She was of a quiet, earnest, unassuming disposition. She realized always that the truest, the most beautiful life is the life of service to others; and her every act has been for the cause of the Master she loved. We cannot understand why one in the very prime of consecrated young womanhood should be thus taken. but we can trust Him who "doeth all things well" that is the way it will work out for good.
Her life here is ended; but the influence of that life hallowed by loving deeds and faithful service, a character perfected by trials and sacrifice, will be a power for good until eternity is ushered in. We feel certain that "her life is bid with Christ in God," and "when the loving Shepherd shall appear he will give her a crown of life."
As we think of her, so lately full of life and youth, now with still hands folded on a quiet breast, may each one of us realize the uncertainty of life, the beauty of a true Christian character, and the hope and surety there is in Jesus.
To the sorrowing friends and relatives, we extend our heartfelt sympathy. We, the students for whom she labored have resolved that her death shall be an incentive for us to more consecrated service.
