I just purchased a 2003 holzher sprint 1321 edgebander with premill and corner rounding. I had a technician spend an entire day here and I cannot not get it figure out how to get a consistent glue line applied to the edge. does anyone have any info that can help.I do have good glue flow out of the nozzle and I have the nozzle adjusted to aprox 2mm of tension on the board. As the edge passes through all the glue gets scraped off at the end of the nozzle and drips down the front of the glue applicator. any help would be greatly appreciatedthank you2/1/16 #2: Holzher edgebander setup ...

Was it an Edgebander technician?

Is your part hitting the shoe or the roller?

It shoul;d only hit the shoe, but the technician would have known that ?2/1/16 #3: Holzher edgebander setup ...

It sounds like your glue feed is not turning off quickly enough and leaving a gob of glue on the nozzle that is scraped off when the panel is fed in, or the glue feed turns on too early and the same result. My bander has adjustments in the PLC for this but I don't know how your machine deals with the timing. Do you have a manual for the machine? This is something the tech should have sorted out.Gerry2/1/16 #4: Holzher edgebander setup ...

Thank you for responseyes it was an edgebander techthe glue on this machine is applied with a metal nozzle with small holes and grooves in it. as the edge passes across it drags or scrapes all the glue off the nozzle but nothing stays on the edge2/2/16 #5: Holzher edgebander setup ...

"I have the nozzle adjusted to aprox 2mm of tension on the board"Do you mean that the nozzle sits proud of the fence ~2mm?. I don't think it's a critical adjustment, but that's about where mine sits. When a board goes through, does the board push the nozzle back (i.e. flush to the fence)? Are you saying there is zero glue on the board, that _all_ of it gets scraped off?2/2/16 #6: Holzher edgebander setup ...

Hi Jay, this problem seams perplexing since the glue nozzle is designed to apply glue not scape it off. Was the technician a Holz-Her guy or just a generic tech? Why I ask is some people can not get there heads wrapped around how the nozzle applies glue, I can not imagine any of the Holz-Her people or even independents that actually know the system to not be able to figure it out quickly. Did the technitian teach you how to clean the nozzle properly without scratching the gate inside and the wire brushing of the nozzle? The glue is kind of pressed into the core of the panels so I can not imagine even if the application station was worn out at the back end it would still fill in the panel and look more like being applied with a putty knife instead of the series of flats and beads that it should look like.

Is the glue station heating up to the proper temp for the adhesive? Using a thermal gun on the nozzle not just the correct temp on controller. This type of applicator has its own quirks, top, bottom and end glueing all the way to the edges without to much on panel but have not heard of this problem. What does a adhesive test without trying to apply tape look like?Paul R2/19/16 #7: Holzher edgebander setup ...

thank you all for your responses I figured that issue out and have the edgebander running great besides one more issue if I can get some help on this. I am having problems with the edge tape running up on the board. pcs that are over 3' long are really an issue and I cannot find adjustments in the manual on how to fix this. I can watch the edge tape being applied to the edge and it is getting g in a bind and being twisted on the first pressure roller, Again thank you for the previous responsesJay2/19/16 #8: Holzher edgebander setup ...

How thick of banding are you having trouble with? I assume you have the hold down bar the one right before the nozzle adjusted properly, if thin tape I like to hold the tape upright and bring bar down with only about .5mm free play. 1mm banding has a lot of advantages over .5mm, so we use that 99.9% of the time for majority of work.Take a look at your banding it may look ok in the roll but stretch it out 2 or 3 feet and see how straight it is, some of it is so snaky that it is impossible to run and you end up with the problem you are having. It can sometime also change width so much that you need to allow to much gap and it will not hold down properly. Just want to make sure you are working with good banding before trying to adjust.Good luck

Website:

Check to make sure the bottom of the edgeguide where the tape comes out to meet the pressure section, sometimes they get installed such that its not in its groove and the glue gets scraped off before it ha a chance to pick up the tape.

Thinking of purchasing a early 90's Holzher 1402 edge bander. What is the parts availability. Is it worth buying, it has very low hours. Very clean.11/4/20 #2: Mid 90's Holz her 1402 express ...

I have a 1435SE that I've had for several years and have had excellent service from it.

The technician I use has been able to help diagnose over the phone and walk me thru any repairs.

He is very knowledgeable on HH banders.

Parts are still available and I've replaced a few switches, a timer, and the trim motors over the years. Still runs great.

I was going to buy a later model but he told me as long as I can keep it running the better off I'd be, as the newer HH banders have computer control and it is very expensive to replace and almost nonexistent used, rendering the bander worthless.

I love the HH cartridge glue system and will never owner another glue pot machine.11/5/20 #3: Mid 90's Holz her 1402 express ...

We have the same bander as Jim and its been a solid workhorse. When I bought it used I contacted Holz-her tech support and the are very helpful. Only advice they gave when asking was to make sure it was a high frequency motor machine as the old bosch (I believe) motors are not available any longer. Contacted them a couple other times for small questions and always helpful. Shop we bought it from replaced it with a very high end machine and said they went months with issues trying to get it on line and wished they'd held on to this one.I do have some issues with chipping edges on melamine that I was going to mail Jim about. Asked about them here before but Im sure its a combination of material/setup more than likely a lot to do with cheap material.I agree with Jim on the cartridge glue. Its so easy its ridiculous and changing colors or glue is literally so simple its ridiculous. We run black occasionally and swapping glue colors is a breeze.

I'm looking for help troubleshooting an error code e-a599...the cnc profibus is not communicating to the electrical cabinet....what does that error code mean? and how can I get the machine running again?

thank you... the bzmanual tells that the slave is interruped in the electrical cabinet. last week when this started i disconnect the cable and made sure i had a good connection at the terminals. after reconnecting the machine ran correctly for a couple days then the error re-appeared is there somewhere else that can be causing the error other than the connector to the electrical cabinet? also this error happens every day at startup...I have trouble getting the machine to connect to the electrical cabinet..somedays fixing it is as easy as using the reset button to clear the error somedays it isn't..could anything other than the connection at the terminal be causing this?

The new NEXTEC 4.0 solution goes far beyond pure machining operations. It offers a complete solution for entry and control of production and material flow in the workshop. The NEXTEC 4.0 Master Computer is the heart of this technology. This additional computer takes over part design as well as control of the data and material flow during work preparation. This master computer then automatically transfers the data to the machine. The advantages are obvious: Work preparation and the machine are interlinked using cutting edge technology, while the data remains in local storage in your workshop.
